Can I breastfeed at night and bottle in the day?

Hi all I had posted a few days ago about my struggles to breastfeed my 3 month old alongside everything else in my day with minding my toddler, fussy baby on the breast, literally not having the time or help to sit and breastfeed/entertain toddler all day...

Anyway I decided to combi feed and am giving 3 bottles a day in daytime, going great.. 1 late morning, 1 evening and 1 before bed at 8.30pm.. BF a bit in between bottles. but baby is the same as he was before introducing bottles ie: pulling on and off breast crying etc. Currently morning and night BFs are bliss he's very satisfied at those times.. He's 13 weeks. Has anyone successfully bottle fed in the day and breast at night? I would like to stop BF in the day altogether,. Maybe the odd suck to sleep for naps. it's too difficult to deal with the boob fussiness I've tried and I can't.

Maybe just switching to bottle completely would be easier. Your supply is going to dwindle anyway, so your baby isn't going to get much at night. You might find he wakes more frequently which is even more tiring.
Would he take a dummy?

Combi worked for us, yes reduced supply but that's just normal as otherwise you'd be engorged.
I'd honestly say happy mum happy baby
I stopped combi with my first at 15 ish weeks, started about 6 weeks I think. This was enough BF for me, we're all different

I think it's quite common to stop breast feeding during the day when your baby is slightly older -probably 6 months plus. Your supply is more established and baby can get some nutrition from solids and drinks from a cup during the day, supplementing with a bottle or two, then BF at bedtime and first thing.

@endofthelinefinally oh, I heard only so far that if I feed at night/morning then my boobs will make just that much? I know with my first he woke frequently for bottles after we started them at 3 months, luckily this baby is only waking once for a boob and sleeping from 9pm till 7am 🤷‍♀️

Sorry, I was confused when you said that he was fussy and not feeding at the breast, then I went back and saw that he was taking a morning and evening feed happily.
I would keep doing the happy breast feeds and do bottle feeds at other times. He is too young for solids so you just have to make sure he is getting enough milk in total.

We see this all the time in 3 month olds.

Often because they are becoming aware of the world around them, they don't want to be turned away from it - they have FOMO! But at night it's boring and they're hungrier having not fed well so they wake more. Bottle feeding is quicker and allows them to see!

Ultimately your supply will be well established by now so you can do it this way if you feel that suits you and your baby best without risking your supply but it can also be the case that babies don't want to work at rhe breast for their milk at all after the fast flow of bottles so if you want to continue BF, think about slow flow teats and paced feeding.

I have just weaned my 15 week old to formula during the day and BF for night and early morning feed and omg he is so much happier! I was having the same issue . Good luck! 😊
