Hi everyone my wee boy 11weeks has silent reflux. We were proscribed gaviscon but it's making him so uncomfortable and is now straining and going really red and uncomfortable when pooing there also like play dough a lot harder than normal I've seen people using Carobel instead? Has anyone got any experience with it?
Would it be better than gaviscon
TIA

I've not tried caribe no but have they poked into what might be causing the silent reflux?

Has anyone suggested that he might have CMPA?

Hi they haven't mentioned that. They've just told me to give him cooled boiled water to help move things. Do you think I should look in to that?

Yes definitely read the link and see if any of the symptoms sound familiar. The article is pretty good and even explains how to talk to HCPs if you think it may be CMPA Wink

Ask for Omeprazole, dd had silent reflux. Infant feeding team told me not to bother with gaviscon or thickeners as it rarely works and makes them uncomfortable with constipation. She told me to go straight with the Omeprazole liquid suspension and it was flipping marvellous! Dd was considerably better after two weeks on it.

I asked about an alternative yesterday she said they'd be reluctant to give him omeprozole to him cause he's only 12 weeks almost. Said to maybe not give him as
Much of the thickener and give him cooled boiled water as reflux is something that they tend to grow out off.

Agreed. Although one of mine needed both. Omeprazole would be what if push for though and definitely the suspension not the soluble tablets.

I will phone GP again on Monday and see what they say. He's never been a great pooper only once every other day so I really
Don't need it getting worse.

We used this and it worked really well for a couple of weeks but then for some reason it didn’t work.

we also tried gaviscon and that worked well afterwards.

the GP was also reluctant to prescribe anything before we had tried other options and gaviscon was as far as she was willing to go without referring us to a consultant.
