Are two milk feeds a day enough?

My ebf 11 month old will be starting nursery when he’s a year. He’s got a dairy allergy and has never had formula but drinks well from a sippy cup. He used to take pumped milk from a bottle but rejected it the last time we tried. He also eats three good meals a day. My question is, when he starts nursery are two milk feeds a day enough? I plan to bf him morning and evening. I don’t really want to have to take pumped milk in everyday if he’s getting enough at other times.
Any help much appreciated 😊

If he’s happy then that’s fine, although if he’s used to more you may find he wakes again for night feeds.

He will likely to start with want more feeds in the eve-when DD started nursery at 13 months she had BF in the morning then she’d have 2 or 3 feeds in the eve/night. It settled down again quite quickly though.

DD didn’t have any formula and I couldn’t express. She also refused to drink cows milk until she was 2.

I BF to 26 months in the end. But it was only 1 or 2 very small feeds from about 15 months on.

Should be enough but you might want to add a feed on pick up. It's a good way to reconnect for you both, it will give them some fluids which they might need now the weather is starting to warm up and it might reduce the risk of them waking in the night.

But yes, 2 feeds at 12 months is enough Wink

At 11 months most babies will be on enough solids to not need any milk during the day and just have it either end. My breastfed DS started childcare at 10.5 months and didn’t have milk all day, just fed before and after (lots in the evening to make up for it)

I did exactly this, but as a PP - BF on pick up at nursery for a while.
And also as PP I did notice an increase in night waking in order to get his quota. It was physically pretty tough, but did help me emotionally with going back to work.

My DD is starting nursery in June when she will just turn a year. I plan to do a pick-up feed around 4.30ish, one at bedtime and then a morning feed. She's still waking for one very quick night feed at the moment, literally like 2 mins around 4am and then she's back to sleep again, so I expect that might lengthen a little.

I don't feed her much during the day now anyway, a couple of brief ones before her nap but the bulk of her actual milk intake is in those bedtime and morning feeds anyway.

Ahh thanks everyone, this is all really helpful and reassuring. I feel much more confident now that I can make this work.
