Is 1oz of breastmilk enough for 2 hours?

Hi everyone,

Feeling a bit rubbish right now as I just have such a hard time pumping milk.

13 week old DS is ebf. I couldn't pump with my first and just accepted it. I attempted to pump this time to see if I could get one night a week to sleep through but it's so difficult, I just ended up accepting it again.

However, I have a special fitness course that helps to retrain muscles after pregnancy. I would like to do it to help my body after two fast births. We managed last week and I managed to pump just under 2oz, which he didn't end up drinking cause he was fine without.

This week, I've only managed 1oz. Would that really enough to tie him over if he gets hungry? I'll feed before I go and as soon as I'm back. I'm out the house max 2 hours.
I know no one can tell me for sure but just looking for some reassurance as I also don't know what's a normal amount for a baby his age to drink.

Thanks everyone

For 2 hours yes should be ok.

If you are really worried get some aptamil. That's the formula my breastfed babes had if I didn't manage to express enough.

Two hours will be fine, I wouldn't bother pumping he'll just feed more after if he's hungry and your supply will adapt.

Thank you both! I managed to pump another ounce before I left using the haakaa and he took 1 Oz from a syringe while I was gone but was pretty happy for the most part anyway :)

Please please do not syringe 30ml of milk it’s dangerous, it carries a real risk of aspiration.
5ml max.

@Jojobees Oh sorry, it was 5ml at a time. Is that what you mean? I didn't know this so will welcome more info on this.
