Reflux and chocking on spit up

Hey
my 5 week old has just been prescribed gavisgon and we’ve started it in her bottles (formula fed and on kendimil)

tbh her spit ups aren’t that regular but she was occasionally doing this awful thing once laid down where she would appear to be chocking on what sometimes looked like milk and other times just saliva!

she would flap her little arms in front of her face, turn red and eyes shot open. Of course I panicked and just grabbed her each time this happened to her her in an upright position to help clear her throat!

i guess I’m looking for anyone that may have experienced this as I’ve seen this happen a handful of times now (and petrifies me it could happen when I don’t see it) and just really hoping the gavisgon stops it happening again - anyone seen this before?

That's not something I've experienced @NKmumof2 but have they advised you to prop up her Moses Basket so that she's not lying flat?

I think if it were me, I'd be tempted to try one of the Comfort Formulas as they're thicker. Maybe Hipp Comfort?

It sounds like silent reflux. My little boy is similar although most of the time he is also sick. Does she have any other symptoms as can be allergy related and has she been checked for tongue tie?

Thank you both for your replies @SiouxsieSiouxStiletto @Rosesandteacups

The health visitor mentioned her tongue and checked it comes out etc she didn’t mention she thought she had tongue tie at all so I assume it’s ok.

have propped up the crib and try to keep her elevated where possible yes

we did get her checked over by a dr yday and he asked about all other symptoms and there’s nothing else happening that made him think it could be a milk allergy.

it’s just so weird that it doesn’t seem to happen all the time, it’s happened maybe 4-5 times in her 5 weeks of being with us and there’s nothing that seems to be an obvious cause, I’m hoping gavisgon will easy any reflux and these scary episode will be no more!

@Rosesandteacups does your LO seem to chock as well with it? It’s like she needs me to lift her up to help clear it…
