BF - lopsided breasts!!

Morning All

Help - My DS objects to feeding from my right breast, and for the last 2 weeks, I have stopped forcing him to feed from it.

However, I have now noticed that there is a considerable difference in size.

I know I should have realised this would happen, but I didn't.

I have tried again to get him to take the right breast, with a little success. If I can encourage him more often, will they even up, or will this happen once I stop BF or will they never go back to the same size?

Advice please.

I had exactly the same. I'm assuming you are right handed ? It was the reason I eventually stopped bf'ing. Because dd hardly fed from the right side, my supply dried up and didn't seem to be able to get enough from just one side.

If you want to keep supply up - keep expressing off right side and offer him the right side as often as possible. Maybe try feeding lying down might help.

FWIW - they did go back to "even" size within a couple of weeks of stopping completely

I struggled with bf ds right from the start, and did only feed from one side after a while as the oher was just too painful.
Yes I was lopsided for a while, but by the time I stopped bfwhen he was 16/17 moths, they had already settleed back to their pre baby size.

Keep offering the righ breast, and if you haven't already, try different posiions (I managed to keep going longer with my "bad" side by only feeding him lying down as i found it less painful) and call one of the bf helplines for advice.

If you can't persuade him to take the r breast, expressing from that side may be the way to go, but for me, I found I cold produce enough from one side (supply and demand really does work for most people!) and did just that.

If you search onesided feeding there are lots of threads about i on here.

Thanks for the advice and I will do a search.

Reassuring that they return to the normal size eventually!

I've just noticed on your other thread that your ds is only 10 weeks. It may affect your supply if you stop from one side completely, so definitley try expressing and keep offering if you can.
I know I had very good supply and could feed from one side excluively but this early on I'm not sure it is always that easy.

Good luck.
