When do breasts feel normal after stopping breastfeeding at 12 month?

Recently stopped breastfeeding at 12 months. My boobs still feel full of milk, not engorged but heavy and I can tell there is milk there. I haven't breastfed for 1 week, just wondered how long this lasted for people?

Took me about 6-7 weeks to fully stop producing I'm afraid

About 3 months to completely return to normal.

So glad you started this thread OP. My little one is 13 months and trying to wean her fully off me. She only feed twice a day now. I was worried I'd get mastitis if I just stop but she keeps biting me so I'm keen to just stop now.
She's fine without it now only uses for comfort really.

Mine took AGES to go back. Months till they were totally back to normal. (Bf for 18 months).

I was breastfeeding morning and night for a few weeks then I swapped the evening feed for a bottle and carried on with the morning feed to do it gradually. However, after a few days of just feeding in the morning, my supply was too little and DC was getting annoyed and pulling at breast so just swapped to bottle in the morning too. Not engorged at all.

Oh OK. I will give this a try. What bottle does your little one have? My daughter will not drink from a bottle. She has a lot of allergies so drinks koko milk from a munchkin cup with a straw during the day but ideally I need her to take a good few oz in the morning and before bed instead of feeding from me.

For the life of me I can't remember. I do remember worrying but then it being fine. I think I worried because I'd had had mastitis 3 times with dc2 but it was fine.

My daughter self-weaned at 14 months so I guess my supply was low by that point, but it only took me a week to feel "back to normal"

DC was on medela bottles as I used to give a bottle of EBM a few times a week but now swapped to tommee tippee with no problems. A cup is better after 12 months anyway so I'm told but could make the transition harder I think. Good luck!

Little update - now stopped breastfeeding about 10 days ago and one of my breats is hard and painful to touch (always had more supply on this breast) is this normal? How long will the engorgment last? Hoping to not get mastitis! Thanks

Hey OP
I spoke to a bf specialist support lady and she said if that happens gently use your fingers to express a bit to relief the pain to make it soft but don't pump.
