Mixing types of formula

My little boy has had some trouble feeding (reflux, painful gas etc) so have been trying different brands and types of formula. Recently we've been making a mix of normal SMA formula and C&G antireflux in the same bottle and it's been working well. e.g. 3 scoops of normal and 2 scoops of antireflux. However when I mentioned this to the health visitor today she was horrified and said I shouldn't mix. The scoops and amounts are the same on the instructions for both types. So can anyone tell me why I shouldn't do this?

Yeah I wouldn't be mixing it but you could do two types of formula over the day. We do one type for most bottles but a different one (same brand) before bed.

It's all about the balance of nutrients that each type offers so it's definitely not recommended to mix them.

No, I'm not sure I'd be mixing them either.

I don't see how it makes much difference tbh. If it works for you and for him then carry on. It's always 1 scoop to 1oz/30mls so the water/powder proportion should be OK too. Just makes bottle making more complicated I suppose.

Could the health visitor not tell you why?

I always err on the side of caution with baby feed but I see no difference in having this in two separate bottles over the day unless it means a shortage of any nutrients which should be clear.

You say it's working so sounds good!
