Can I give my poorly toddler breastmilk?

Im sorry I have no idea if this is in the right topic or not!!

My 2.5yo DD is poorly with possible Strep A. Would expressing my breastmilk in a cup for her help her to feel/get better?
I'm currently EBF her 3mo brother

Thank you! ☺️

It won't do any harm, but I very much doubt there will be much benefit.

There may well be some antibodies in there if you've had the virus they're fighting so worth a try. It's quite sweet though so they may be confused if you try and tell them it's just milk.

It’s worth a try.
I dabbed a nasty eye infection with my breast milk and it very quickly cured it. It could have been a coincidence of course.
I hope your little one recovers soon.

I'd defo do that. Your milk is tailored to the baby that's on the breast but so if the one who is feeding was sick your milk turns more like colostrum in those times to help them get better but it would still be full of good stuff in it for them.

I would absolutely do this, when DD1 had conjunctivitis, I was feeding DS & used breast milk to wipe her eyes, cleared up over night!

antibiotics will treat it, not sure breastmilk will make much difference.

If it’s possible Strep A then you need antibiotics from the doctor which should clear it up quickly.
