Bottle for breastfed baby

Hi all,

Can anybody recommend a bottle for a breastfed baby? DD has been having the NUK ones but I’m finding the teat is collapsing which seems to be a common problem so I’m having to switch bottles. Thanks.

MAM bottles are good! You can get a box set of them on amazon I believe.

I think I used the 'close to nature' ones last time, you've just reminded me to get some just in case for this time so also interested!

@MichelleScarn When I asked my midwives what things to steer clear of, 2 things they said were the bottle making machines as it is impossible to fully clean them and that they're trying to get them banned, and the closer to nature bottles but I don't rmemeber why, maybe they increase wind? I don't know for sure though, all I know is they said to steer clear so maybe do a bit of research before trying those.

MAM or Lansinoh.

DD1 took to MAM but DD2 didn't.

The lansinoh tears actually fit into the MAM bottles which is what DD2 has.

Thanks everyone! I was going to try the MAM bottles but kept reading reviews that the bottom leaks (I think because the vents are at the bottom) and so when heating them up, water can actually get into the bottle. I’m not sure if anybody has experienced that?

Mimbie were the only ones mine would take even at 11 months they were on paced 3 month teet completely fine and not inhaling it.

Google pace feeding and know a bottle hits the auto swallow reflex so keep checking every 8 gulps by tapping their top lip with the teet. If they open they are hungry still if not they aren't

We have lansinoh, medela and mam. DD happily switches between them, but I find she goes too quickly on the mam so tends to be more sicky (she’s a pain to wind, too).

Our lactation consultant was also anti the closer to nature bottles, but can’t remember why.

Gretchenfox · 01/03/2023 04:29

Thanks everybody. I’ll avoid the closer to mature I think. It’s just a pain about the NUK teats because she loves those bottles!

I'm currently triple feeding (breast, bottle and expressing) - my 12 week old has no issue switching and we use the MAM bottles. You can get one for free with the boots parenting club if you want to try it out before committing.
We heat ours up, and as long as they're screwed tightly we haven't had any issues - he will not accept a cold bottle haha
