Can I breast feed with saggy boobs?

Name change due to the embarrassment I have very large boobs which are heavy and my nipples point down... so how on earth will I breast feed? I'm 27 weeks so I'm starting to think about the ins and outs. I just can't see how it will work without be suffocating the baby. And how will he latch on?

I'm a little worried about the first feed just after the birth and everyone round watching and him not being able to latch on because they're so gross..

Can anyone explain it to me, or tell me if I should be bottle feeding instead?

Mine are so saggy I think I could actually be in a different room and still reach DD to feed her.

teehee this made me laugh and the WHSmith quote

I had a good giggle at those too. So good to know I'm not alone!!

I wished mine were bigger as feeding lying down with smaller boobs is hard (well, I found it hard) while my friends with big boobs had more boob to reach the baby and got on better.

Thankfully, they are much saggier these days so hopefully I'll get on better this time!

barrel, when I had my DS I was given a copy of an NHS Bresatfeeding magazine which had tons of good advice in it - I referred back to it many times over the first few weeks It had some good info about 'exaggerated latch', which is what I had to use - sort of cupping the breast and pointing the nipple at DS's nose, and using my thumb to flip it in when his mouth opened.

I can dig it out and post it to you if you'd like

That would be fantastic!! Do you not mind? Do you have an e-mail address so that i can send you my address?

I didn't realise that 'flip' move had a name - it really works well!

I got my bras form M&S i think. 2 for £25. they are just plain cotton ones, one black, one white.
I was worried about not wearing underwired bras with big boobs!! but the bras i got were actually quite pretty.
I have 34f( 34g now im feeding) and ive had no probs! feeding lying down is easy! i used to put a pillow under dd when she was small, but mostly that was for comfort for me,
Good luck!!

p.s i've got a tube of lanisoh if you want it?? no one els does. lol!

I worried about squishing the little darling feeding him whilst laid down and got a bad backache; all that tensing of muscles in your vertabrae (or somewhere) that you didn't know you had. A V pillow behind my back to lean back onto helped, so that he wasn't subsumed in boob, helped us both, I think. 2.9 years later, we're just both weaning ourselves off it. You'll love it.
