i should prob do a search on this but not being given much of a chance to do anything this morning!

my boobs have had the occasional sharp pain but he has been feeding like a monster and also tends to pull my nipple around if the milk flowis too fast for him so not sure that is a symptom...

can a white tongue just be a normal baby thing? he's 3 weeks old

and crying again, must go...

I'm pretty sure babies often have a what tounge from milk, if you are in doubt check with hv or gp.

if it doesnt come off when you scrape with finger and looks more furry then milky could be thrush my ds had this i would get it checked as it really gave him problems with feeding but onve antibiotics were given it was an immediate relief for him

Antibiotics don't help with thrush - thrush is a fungal infection, not bacterial.

No way to know if this is thrush, chunky...probably not, as babies often have a white tongue, from milk left behind, or just because that's the colour of the tongue at present Thrush deposits are scrapable, as bubbla says, and may be on gums and inside of cheeks as well. Sudden sharp pain can be normal - persistant, shooting pains may be a sign of thrush but most women have it on the nipples first and feel v. sore.

See if the HV has any idea.
