How best to prepare anti-reflux formula at night

We’ve just been told to put our 12 week old (5 weeks corrected age) on C & G anti-reflux formula as he is vomiting up a lot of his bottles. We are currently on C&G nutri prem 2 (he was 9 weeks premature) and always make up a few bottles in advance, usually 12 hours worth to make life easier. We did it with our first child and never had a problem and the midwife said it was fine. From reading other posts, I’m getting the impression this can’t be done with the anti-reflux formula as it will thicken too much. Just wondered if anybody else had any tried and tested methods that would make our life easier…certainly for the night time feeds. And what did you do if you were out and about? I’ve read that the water needs to be cooler than 70 degrees, not sure if this is true but isn’t it supposed to be that temp in order to kill any bacteria? Would it be worth investing in a perfect prep machine? Due to the thickness of the formula, will I need to change to a fast flow teat? Currently use tommee tippee bottles. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you :)

Can you get some carobel and add it to the milk you already have? Anti reflux formula is basically just thickener in the formula which is what carobel is. You add it to your own formula so make it thicker, you might need to play around with how much you put in

@Toto531 I think the anti-reflux formula is sterile so the temperature does need to be so high as there shouldn't be any nasty bugs in the formula to kill, as long as you store it safely and wash your hands before preparing the feed.

Have you found the premature birth section on MN as well? There are usually some experienced and helpful MNers in there Flowers

I’m using anti reflux milk with my daughter. I’ve got rid of my prep machine as I found that the powder didn’t dissolve well with the hot shot, it was very lumpy.
I make the bottles with freshly boiled water and let them cool in the fridge (make 4 at a time) I do have to let them stand in boiling water for a while and shake well before I feed my daughter, as the formula does tend to separate out a bit.
