When you stopped breastfeeding / expressing

How did you feel?
I haven't been able to breastfeed for various reasons but have expressed for 6 months. Baby has just turned 6 months.
I used to produce loads of milk. Then it reduced so much that we had to combi feed with formula.
I am also now on Domperidone tablets to help increase milk supply.
However, I double express for 30 mins 3 times per day and I'm lucky if I get 50ml. So she's mainly on formula and will be starting solids from next week.

The thought of stopping expressing makes me feel so sad. Even though I'm not actually feeding her from the breast, I feel like crying whenever I think about stopping expressing.

Is this normal?!

The thoughts are way worse than actually stopping - my friend felt the same. Its sad but not as sad as the thinking about it..

@Rowen32
Thank you. I'm hoping that will be the case. I feel so sad about it.

And I haven't even done it yet!

Relief!
I stopped at 5 months with my son as went back to work.
I gave up work after my second and she was very stubborn and refused the bottle so I breastfed her for a year. She was down to one feed just before bed then. The night before her first birthday, she just looked at my breast, stuck her thumb in her mouth and turned away. Yay!
I had no problems breastfeeding but never felt this 'circle of love' thing - after the first couple months I felt it was a huge tie and was quite content when it ended.

@mondaytosunday
A friend told me she was sad for a day and then got used to it pretty quickly and there was some relief too.

Stopped at 5 months both times and felt utter, utter relief.
