My ds us 7 weeks old. He;s feeding well and putting weight on.

My milk is plentiful to say the least, I'm VERY leaky and it fountains out.

Ds has an obviously upset tummy and spinachy nappies. I'm told that this maybe c'os of too much fore milk.I'm wondering if he's getting too much c'os I';ve got so much milk it takes him too long to get to the hind milk.

Little ones can have quite a lot of wind for the first 3-4 months - are you sure it is definitely an "upset tummy". afaik as long as you let him feed as long as he wants then he will get what he needs and you don't need to worry unduly about the hind/fore milk issue.

The nappies can vary a lot at this age ime (but I only have 2 dds and am not an expert ) My dd2 is still exclusively b/f but nappies can be all shades of yellow and green and "wind levels" vary tremendously from day to day. She seems fine so I am sure all is well.

Someone else will no doubt have more specialised advice in a bit.

p.s. I still leak a lot and dd2 is 5 months. I am sure that with dd1 things were a lot more under control. I get through a lot of breast pads on some days (other days I don't leak at all!)

Oh and forgot to say congrats on your new baby.

Thanks for the advice. I've looked at the Kelly mom site and it's really helpful.

I tried one-sided feeding for over-active let down and it worked pretty well. I used to feed from one breast for a specific amount of time (think it was 4 hours), no matter how often ds fed in that time - sometimes would only be one feed, other times 4 or 5! Then onto the next breast for the next 4 hours. Had slight engorgement for the first couple of days but soon resolved itself.

Congrats btw!

Thanks girls. One sided feeding seems to be doing the trick.
