Fast letdown?

Can anyone tell me what a fast or forceful let down actually looks like?
my baby can be very fussy when feeding and pulls away quickly gets upset but I never see milk spilling out of his mouth.
a few times I’ve seen a tiny jet of milk spraying out the nipple - is that normal or is that a fast / forceful let down?

My let down more than once reached across the room. Then my dc would just relatch and carry on.

It was a small room though

@ConnieTucker 😂 Ok that sounds a lot more than mine

Mine hit my MiL in the face once 🤣

DD definitely got sprayed all over her face as a regular occurrence. Not quite across the room, but definitely requiring immediate application of the ever-present muslin cloth.

Mine was a bit like when you accidentally put a spoon under a tap

It's unmistakable. My son struggled. I would stick a haakaa on first before I fed him to get the fast let down out then it was more comfortable for him to feed.

In public I just let it pour into a muslin first.

Ok so mine is nothing like that! I was told I had a fast letdown by a lactation consultant even though I never see any milk!

if was £80 as well for the consultation.
thanks everyone :)

Baby would come off choking with milk and get covered all over his face, and my shirt (and probably the bed sheet) would also be soaked

It wasnt throughout breastfeeding. And it wasnt all the time. It only ever happened with both dc in the first few weeks. Was far more normal after that. But by fuck it would hurt for that moment too. Id push my feet into the ground to brace myself.

id get spare milk by putting one if those milk catcher things on my spare boob too whilst bfing. Thats a handy trick i wish id known from the start.
