One of the midwives here at the hospital says I'm feeding bubs too much and she's uncomfortable/ full of milk. I've been feeding on demand, my milk came in at the end of day 2 so she's guzzling like mad. The only thing that settles her crying is a feed, so I'm assuming she's hungry, but the mw is telling me to rock her to sleep instead. Any guidance here?

Sounds totally normal to me. Can you see if they have breastfeeding supporters at the hospital? Maybe try some different winding techniques in between feeds if she feels squirmy or appears uncomfortable. You've got this x

Ps. Kellymom is a great source of online advice/ guidance and check on Facebook to see if you have a local breastfeeding support group

Nope. Probably cluster feeding atm

If the baby feeds too much he or she will just bring the excess up - totally harmless. Babies do feed for reasons other than hunger. Eg comfort. It doesn’t make sense that they would only want comfort when hungry so you feel free to BF whenever you want. That’s what I do too - it’s the privilege of being mum that you can just pop them on the boob to calm them in any scenario. Leave the hard work (eg rocking) up to others 🙂

I'd ignore her, your baby is a newborn, you're supposed to feed on demand so that your boobs get the message to make milk. Somebody more knowledgeable can explain better but seriously I would ignore her advice. Your baby is unlikely to be happy with just being rocked when they can sense your milk, and their stomach is so tiny they will feed often, it's biologically normal.
Congratulations 💐

Sounds very strange. If it's comfortable for you and baby carry on. You will know best.

You can't over feed a baby so don't worry about it.
