Come on gals, I love the thought that after they do their negative piece on how breastfeeding after 2 years should "Not Be Allowed"

...they then have to announce that most people disagree!!!

Let's see what the power of mumsnet can do.

OP posts:
StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2008 22:02

I agree - the fact we take it this seriously would surely be news in itslf
Unless they report it as "a mass of technologically savvy weirdo hippies had nothing better to do on a Tuesday night"

gigglewitch · 29/01/2008 22:02

LOL @ rigged

ooohh, the power of mumsnet.
That is the end of lk's sales of baby-weaning books then

KashaSarrasin · 29/01/2008 22:04

59.98%

I'd love to see someone try and tell DS 2.8 he wasn't allowed boobie-milk! Ha ha ha!

MegaLegs · 29/01/2008 22:04

It's not rigged. It's just been brought to our attention . It will also be a fairer poll in the sense that it is being voted for by parents with bf experience rather than outraged daily Mail readers.

LyraSilvertongue · 29/01/2008 22:05

verylittlecarrot, well if 99% of the total votes came from members of the Strictly Over Twos Toddler Breastfeeding Support Network, GMTV could argue that the result is unrepresentative and therefore invalid.

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2008 22:08

Bet they wouldn't care if 99% came from the kind of people whose response would be "uuurgh, bitty!"
Not disagreeing Lyra, just irritated. Suppose what I'm saying is if it was a true, statistical survey they would try to ensure fair representation, but I doubt it is!

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2008 22:09

Not irritated with you, with my theoretical "urgh, bitty!" person

why use 1 word when you can use 100?

Jenkeywoo · 29/01/2008 22:09

this is awesome - the power of mumsnet. can't inmagine how grim the programme on extreme breastfeeding will be on GMTV tomorrow - they'd love me I'm really quite extreme - dd is nearly 2 and still demand feeding, and she's disabled and I'm fat - (being fat always adds to the freakish factor n'est-ce-pas?).

FourPlusOne · 29/01/2008 22:10

Have voted. But what a ridiculous poll! Are they planning on outlawing it and mums would be illegally breastfeeding with the curtains drawn! Have not read whole thread but will watch LK tomorrow though I know I shouldn't as it will just wind me up.

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2008 22:13

JenkeyWoo, you utter freak!

FourPlusOne, in my charitable moments I did hope that the people who voted no did so on the understanding that the question was "should women be made to bf after the LO is the age of 2?", as I think it could be interpreted in that way
but I doubt it

gigglewitch · 29/01/2008 22:14

another idea, ladies - i've just sent it to all the mums in my address book (sorry if you're here already)
your turn...

robinredbreast · 29/01/2008 22:14

ive just cungered up an imagine of
a mum in extreme sports clothes, goggles hat ski suit, out and about in town, sits down and bfs her lo

lol

buffybaskey · 29/01/2008 22:14

i really hope you dont mind but i have posted this on two other forums and a yahoo group xxx :-)

Jenkeywoo · 29/01/2008 22:15

Hmm, am quite proud to be called a freak on MN. keep on voting!

thebluefoxategreensocks · 29/01/2008 22:15

I've posted the link on the "breastfeeding beyond 1 year" section of the La Leche League forum, so results might get even better!

So when will they "announce" the results of their silly poll? (I don't have a TV, so wouldn't know anything about it, apart from seeing the post on MN! lol)

Just hope they don't decide to throw it out since so many votes are coming with one answer! lol

robinredbreast · 29/01/2008 22:16

dont mind ? well done, keep up the good work buffy

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2008 22:16

SITS DOWN??
No that's not extreme enough
Jenkeywoo, I hope you also abseil, while bf. Do you only bf one child at a time??

robinredbreast · 29/01/2008 22:18

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2008 22:18

LyraSilvertongue · 29/01/2008 22:18

61.89%

cali · 29/01/2008 22:19

robinredbreast · 29/01/2008 22:19

StealthPolarBear · 29/01/2008 22:19

better but still not extreme, wouldn't you say?
I bf while bungee jumping

VVVQV · 29/01/2008 22:20

Good work ladies - well done

One in the eye for the media folk who try and roll out b/feeders as a freak show.

robinredbreast · 29/01/2008 22:20

or how about bf while handgliding pmsl
