4 month old dummy refuser

I've offered my DC a dummy since about 5 weeks old. They have accepted it occasionally but they mostly refuse. DC is now 4 month old. Has anyone managed to get their baby to accept a dummy at this age or should I give up?

Why do you want to? Neither of mine had them. It’s just another battle further down the line and if they aren’t fussed, I wouldn’t offer.

My ds gave his up at 4 months.. no idea why..tbh i had it far easier with him giving it up than many of my friends

Mines 6 months old now and occasionally he's taken to it but mostly not. I've accepted he just isn't a dummy baby like my first was too. Feel glad you won't have that battle when he's older.
Why do you want him to have a dummy?

Don't worry about it. They don't need it and you can feel relieved when others are negotiating with a 3 year old to stop using it 😊

Thanks for your replies. My older DS had a dummy when he was a baby and I found it very helpful. For example if he was fussing a little, I could give him the dummy and it would distract him and buy me a little time before he kicked off. He had the dummy until just before he was 3 and he gave it up relatively painlessly.

If they don’t want it don’t force it. I know you said for your first child it was easy to give up but trust me, for a lot of kids it is a big deal to give up and a massive pain 😂 cute comfort toy which you can get loads of?
