DD1 and DD2 weren't like this. I knew DD3 would be different, i just knew it.

I'm not giving it the whole woe is me thing, but all my friends who have children around the same age are all going through the night already or at least giving them 4 hour gaps.

DD3 is sleeping in with me and 24 hours a day from day 1 she'll feed every 2 hours. I don't really mind, it's no massive biggie and it doesn't last forever, just don't want to feel like the only one still feeding so often.

fair enuff

mebbe a bit oversensitive... "going" 4 hours still only leaves me at 50% normal....

Thomcat to make you feel slightly better my DS (almost 4 months) is feeding hourly through the night at the moment, and at leat every 2 hours during the day - and my HV has advised topping up

My 7 month old DD has only recently managed to go a little longer between feeds. Up till about 6 and a 1/2 months she fed from anywhere between hourly, or 2hrs 40 at the very most. I found it a bit restricting in that I could never leave her with anyone for very long (an hour!). However, since weaning has kicked in a bit more, she has done a dramatic u turn and I now have to remind her to feed! Just keep up the good work! You're doing great!

my one year old is breastfeeding on demand night and day.

I weigh 45 kilos, i look malnourished.
i am short, yes, but 45 kilos is still very underweight and i'm losing more.

she eats solids, anything between 1 and 3 meals a day, enjoys what she gets but doesnt eat alot. she will always want a big breastfeed after meals.

at night she starts of in a cot and ends up in my bed, i dont mind too much.

i am generally weary, weak and tired, have burning eyes at the moment.
i also have a rowdy 2 yo to care for who wakes me up through the night to use the potty.
so no, you're not alone!

Hi. I'm so pleased to hear it's not just me. Sometimes DS wants to feed for 45 minutes of each hour day and night. He'll go 2 hours at a push. It's exhausting isn't it.
I'm sure when they do start going longer between feeds we'll look back and remember fondly

Tiktok I liked your point, I'm the same. It's part of why I am so at dsis and HV insisting ds doesn't "need" feeding so often. I blardy well do, so why shouldn't he!

Oh girls, sorry you're all going, or have gone, through the same, but it is nice to not feel such a freak!

I was out with another friend today and her DD is 3 days younger than mine and she is sleeping 7pm to 7am . Very pleased for her but just wanted to run home and see my 'feeding every 2 hour' mates on Mumsnet!

Thomcat, you know your friends? Well, at least half of them are lying!
I remember chatting to a lady and her daughter in a health spa once when ds3 was very little and I was bemoaning the fact that ds1 and ds2 had been very obliging babies and had switched between breast and bottle when required to do so and that ds3 was being a nightmare and refusing bottles and that I was right that moment worrying that he would be screaming the house down for my Mum and refusing to feed for her!
The lady said "Oh, the third one is always different" and since then I've always noticed that amongst my friends, they always think they have parenting sussed after the second and they nearly always get a shock to the system with the third!
