Any reviews for DR Browns anti-colic bottles?

Hiya ladies,

I'm due in March with my first. Can anyone report on as to whether or not using these Dr Brown bottles reduce colic? Or if anyone has only used them so have no point of reference, did your baby still develop colic?

Many Thanks

i got these for my breast fed baby on the odd occasion that he had ebm-it took him ages to get used to the bottle but he never seemed to have any problems with wind or colic, personally i think the teat is much nicer than some of the others
sorry not much use-hope someone else is better...

I used these with my dd who was very colicy and I think they did help a little but all the bits become a right pain to wash up compared to 4 bits of an Avent....still, anything to help with the sheer awfulness of colic!! I'd give them a try - in fact I've got some you can have if you want - I think you can buy new teats if you want!

if you want to bf...these teats are by far the most soft I have found...I don't find them that much hassle to wash up...and with other bottles I could hear my lo swallowing air!! Have to say that nothing stops colic...but you can lessen it!

I would defo have a bottle of infacol in whatever you decide..I popped into boots on my way home from hossie to get this!!

when I said bf..I meant breastfeed..as these teats are nice and soft....unlike some others that are nothing like nipples they are so tough!! So I found that my ds was happier with these...I bought avent...then went out and bought dr browns.

Hi gals,

Thanks for your replies, I do intend to buy them but just wanted a little bit of feedback first.

Chatee, thanks for your offer and I'm not too proud for used baby goods, seeing as I have been passed on an enormous amount of stuff but bedding, feeding and travel stuff I prefer to buy new.

I have been researching into where is the best place to buy muslin squares, as I find most high street stores are just a rip-off. I found a site called freerangekids.co.uk which sells a pack of 10 unbleached muslin squares (75cm x 75cm) for £8.45, incl free delivery within GB. I'm very pleased!

I have used Dr Browns for work for a year and wasn't convinced. Now I have my own colicky baby i tried Tommee Tippee's own version and think they make a huge difference. Very impressed!!

I'm a bit late here but these bottles are fab. They stopped my dd1 posseting completely. However, if you are using them for feeding formula you will either need something else to mix it in, as the bottles have lots of fiddly bits where the powder gets stuck, or remortgage the house and buy cartons of ready mixed stuff. They are also a real pain to wash up - but I think you can use a dishwasher. But they did help enormously with dd's wind problem and I really noticed the difference when I tried to switch back to Avent.

But I have to say I'm glad I'm bfeeding this time around as any bottles are such a faff.

also a bit late here but just thought Id add my bit:

the bottles are great and i think do help with colic.

the teats are by far the softest 9and therefore easiest for a BF baby to get used to) I've found

however, the bottles are very leaky, even with the little disc inserted to stop spillage, so they have ti be kept upright at all times in nappy bag etc. This is very annoying.

with washing up, I've always just bunged all the bits in the dishwasher and they come out fine.

Finally, don't go and buy loads as regardless of everyone else's views, you don't know what your baby will think! They are expensive. I'd get just one, see how you go, and then send DH/DP out to get some more later.

Re the muslin squares, John lewis ones are the nicest I've found. Nice and soft, and a good size. I got some cheaper ones but my DS who is now 3 uses his muslins as a comforter and says the non-john-lewis ones are "too scratchy, mummy". Bles his little heart.
