Breastfeeding with large, saggy boobs

Advice needed!

Any tips for breastfeeding with large saggy (kind of flat) boobs?

I have tried using a muslin but this just makes my nipples point further down.

I'm 13 weeks in with my little one and really just want to make breastfeeding work but not sure what else to try to get a good latch 😫

I have big boobs. Actually they worked quite well for breastfeeding because i could just lift them and move them around quite easily and they flopped into place.
I was a bit concerned DS might get smothered though!
(It never happened. I learned I could put two or three fingers between the boob and his face and hold my skin back.)
I think you just have to experiment to find a position that works for you. Try holding baby a little lower down your body?

As long as your baby is gaining weight you must be doing something right. Best of luck🙂

No experience sorry, but could you get a non-padded bra and cut holes in the nipple area so you have support but your nipples poke out?

I’ve breastfed two babies with my large sad saggy boobs, happy to offer advice if I can. Which part are you struggling with?

I have large saggy boobs (32j when last measured) and have breastfed for the last 7 years. Third is still going at 2 so I know what a slog it is! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Anyway. I found the rolled up muslin trick only helped so much- until I got rid of the bloody hideous nursing bras and bought a decent underwired "normal" bra (my preferred bra is bravissimo's satine bra). I just drop a strap off my shoulder, pop a boob out over the top of the cup and let the structure of the cup and underwire hold everything up for easy feeding. I haven't had any mastitis from wearing an underwire though I do know it isn't recommended. I also hold up the skin on top whilst they latch to pull the nipple up and then let go once they're on.

I also find position helps- have you tried koala position or feeding in a sling? Because baby is coming from the underneath the nipple is more accessible to them that way.

Has little ones latch been checked? Is there a tongue tie or weak latch issue?

Yes! This is essentially a nursing bra, you could definitely give it a try. M and S do them.

To get a good latch baby needs to take a big mouthful of nipple, almost coming up from below it. Try tapping your nipple on the top of baby’s nose to encourage them to open wide.

Also I tend to hold my breast (hand in a C shape) and manoeuvre it into place.

I know guidance says to take baby to breast, not the other way around, but I was saggy enough to be able to move my boobs around without having to slump my back forward.
