Intolerance at 3 months?!

I think my little one may have some kind of intolerance - he is 3.5 months old, formula fed (same milk since birth) and for the last couple of weeks has had horrendous diarrhoea and wind- no temperature and happy in himself. He also has a bit of eczema on his arm & gets a red rash on his tummy that comes and goes. I've spoken to GP & health visitor and waiting for stool sample results but has anyone had a similar experience with their little one showing signs of an intolerance at 3 months rather than from birth? He has always been quite a sicky baby and always suffered with painful wind during feeding but the diarrhoea is new. He's not following his weight gain line either - born somewhere around 75th centile and now 50th - although been told that this drop is ok.

My lad was a sticky, uncomfortable baby but started projectile vomiting after feeds at around 3 months. He was diagnosed and we had to have a prescription formula for him, it’s a very long time ago now so .I’m a little foggy on the details. He did grow out of it though and as a young adult survives on cereal and milk.

Hi OP. Might sound strange and I promise I'm not antivax but my LO developed some sensitivities (seemingly) straight after jabs. Absolutely no issues before that! We ended up on prescription formula too although the taste and smell was vile so it was a mission getting her to have it. She's grown out of most of them now but something definitely changed after vaccinations even though the GP thinks I'm bonkers. When I spoke to a paediatric dietitian she said she had come across similar cases where the issues started or got exacerbated after the jabs.

@88dlp88 sounds like it could be CMPA.

Have a read of this from Allergy UK and if it sounds like it could be that, I'd take him to the GP tomorrow.

My daughter had suspected cmpa although was breastfed. She didn't show many symptoms until around 2 months but then she started with the smelly wind and full body rashes. I stopped eating dairy and the symptoms went away, and she was prescribed a special formula so I could use it for porridge etc, but I could never bring myself to give it to her because it's vile. I started using oat milk instead.

She's now 3 and has grown out of it.

Oh yeah, and she's still 'in the system' for a dietician's appointment, having been referred two and a half years ago....

That's truly shocking.

That is really awful - two & a half years 😭
I decided to change milk brand - went from cow & gate to hipp organic and within 2 days his stomach was soooo much better. Bizarre as I thought all the different brands were ultimately made up of the same ingredients 🤷‍♀️ guess he must be allergic or sensitive to something in the cow and gate!
Just a shame it's more expensive and less available 🤦🏻‍♀️
