Hi All,

Hoping to find someone in the same or similar situation! Sorry for the long post!
My baby girl is now 7 weeks old and has struggled with feeding since birth (emergency caesarean, treated for sepsis, was combination feeding, tongue tie snipped at 3 weeks, issues with latching after so unable to breastfeed, stopped at 4 weeks, changed from Aptamil to Kendamil 2 weeks ago after issues with wind and vomiting, tried anti-reflux milk which made wind worse and caused constipation). She continues to take 1.5 hours to feed (150ml max every 3-4 hours, sometimes sleeps for 6-7 hours at night when well), this is due to wind. She takes 1oz, needs winding, then another 1-2oz, needs winding and can take ages, she then falls asleep with wind or refuses to feed until wind free, sometimes has a break, nappy change etc. Then has more milk, more winding. She gets hiccups at least 3 times a day, more wind and winding. She won't sleep soundly if she has wind, it takes up to an hour to get her wind free after a feed, by which point she is almost hungry again.
She vomits at least twice a day, usually with wind or if she gags/coughs on the teat. She is on size 1 Mam teats. She refuses a dummy.
Infacol makes the wind take longer, gripe water makes her sick, currently using Dentinox in her milk which helps slightly by removing bubbles.
We burp her in every possible position.
She still clicks when feeding on the bottle, still leaks milk from her mouth and seems to have a poor latch.
The health visitor is going to speak to the feeding and swallowing team but I just wanted to see if anyone has any ideas? Wondering if she has a high palate and what we can do to help. Really struggling with things now after a bad night, husband works nights so isn't around much but would like to be around more!

Thank you in advance!

Oh she also mouth breathes and her tongue is often down rather than up when asleep, which I've read is not good!

@Sapphire27 really sorry noone responded to your thread when you must have been going through quite a stressful time!

My DD had tongue tie and has a high palate. She also struggles with trapped wind although we are now using colief and that has seemed to help a little.

I was just wondering how your LO was getting on now some time has passed? Would love to know what worked for you or your experience?

@Lxii62 She actually turned 2 yesterday! It's been a long journey but she's doing so much better now thankfully. She had to have her tongue tie cut again at 4 months old, it was first cut at 2 weeks old but reattached! We did lots of exercises at home which I found on Instagram, she ended up on Omeprazole for severe silent reflux which we have just weaned off! We had to wean her onto solids around 22 weeks old as she developed bottle and milk aversion but she really loves food now, this was on the advice of the infant feeding team.
She still has a high palate but her teeth have all come through fine so far, her lip tie resolved when her top two teeth came through.
Hope your little one is doing okay!

@Lxii62 Oh also we found that a tiny bit of Dentinox colic drops in her milk really helped to get rid of the bubbles in the milk and reduce wind! She had that in her milk right up to age 1 when she dropped bottles all together

@Sapphire27 thanks so much for your response - it's really good to hear that teeth are through fine and eating is not a problem.

Sounds like you've had your hands full! Glad your LO got the omeprazole that obviously worked for her - bet you're excited that she's weaned off it after all this time. :)

No problem at all, it was all worth it in the end she's a lovely little toddler now! And yes I told everyone when I finally weaned her off the omeprazole haha! Good luck x
