Hale baby vs Elvie vs Fraupow

Hi folks,

I want to buy a hands free pump for my imminent return to work. I was going to buy an Elvie but kept hesitating about the price.

I looked into alternatives, and several came up: Fraupow and Hale Baby are the two I like the look of. The reviews of the Fraupow are good but there is no return if I don’t like it, and that feels a bit risky to spend so much when I can’t return (though totally understand why.)

The Hale Baby has a 30 day return policy and although it’s more expensive than the Fraupow it does come with a lot more stuff. But I can find absolutely no reviews about it other than on its website and there are only 30. Has anyone tried this pump? I can’t find anything out about it or the company!

Thanks 😁

Hi, can I ask which you got in the end?
Did you find out anything more about the Hale brand? It looks kind of suspicious so I'm hesitant to buy from them.

Hi!
I bought the Fraupow, and it’s fine… Not groundbreaking or anything. It is a good pump in that I get a decent volume of milk, but it is loud, and the milk catcher is fiddly - a few times the back has come off as I’ve been taking out out of my bra and the milk all spilled out.
Also the battery life is pretty crap. But I don’t know how that would compare to others.
If I was buying again I’d probably go for a Pipetta, as they’re much cheaper and a bit more of a known quantity. Hope this helps!

I bought the Hale baby but after reading the 30 days was just about if it doesn't work not that if you don't get on I decided to cancel. 22 days and still waiting for my refund so I think I'll have to go to my bank and start a fraud case.
I bought the pippeta which arrived the next day (fab service). Having issues like you with it opening by accident when taking it out of my bra but can see that these pumps all look similar so wondering if I'd have the same issue with a different brand. It seems good otherwise. Hope you're getting on better with yours.

I bought a hale baby when my baby was 4 weeks old, it took weeks to arrive and I asked for a refund and return before it arrived. They ignored this and posted it out anyway and I’m still trying to contact them to return it and get a refund. My baby is now 14 weeks old. Think I’ll need to go through my bank as fraud too.

Hi, I have the hale baby pump and I hate to say I have been duped. When it came, the name on the box is called boboduck so it doesn't even say 'hale'. They are a nightmare to get hold of as the above people have said. I paid for mine and took weeks to turn up. The pump itself comes with no instructions in the box, you have to find them on their website. The pump itself does the job -(today I pumped 90ml in 8 mins) but probably works just as well as something like momcozy (I've never heard of pipetta). However when sterilising the rubber flange is an absolute nightmare to put back on it takes me and my husband like an hour, I'm gutted I bought it and now can't return. Would you recommend the pippeta? If so which one did you try? The elvie is way out of my price range

dinksandbinks · 11/07/2022 14:49

Oh gosh I’m sorry so many people have been duped! What a nightmare 🙈 If the product is not as advertised or not fit for purpose you may still have some rights depending on how you paid. If only there was a way to review it on Google…

After a few months of using it I would recommend the Fraupow - I ordered from Direct4Baby and it came really quickly. I’m now used to putting it on and off in a way that doesn’t spill, and I just charge it every night.

I believe the Pipetta and the momcozy are the same thing, just under different branding. But I think they are all much of the same thing so if it’s cheaper than the Fraupow go for that!

I'm so sorry to hear that 😞 honestly, I don't know why people do things like that, people are struggling enough as it is. I've submitted a claim through my bank. Just have to hear back now.
Pippeta - I'm loving it. Pop it on and just get in with stuff. Today I had it on whilst trying to put furniture together and it stated in place. I have an issue with one of my breasts (previous trauma) and get a blocked duct frequently and so far it's managing to drain it each time which is also a huge bonus. Next week will be the big test as I take it to work with me but I don't have any concerns about it letting me down.

Hugasauras · 13/07/2022 08:10

I love my Elvies but they are hideously expensive and I've had two hubs have to be replaced under warranty for breaking. But when it's all working it's brilliant. Using them again just now with my second DD. They do keep quite high resale value second hand so that's a consideration at least.

dinksandbinks · 13/07/2022 09:11

Interestingly the Hale Baby ones no longer come up on Google shopping but they do come up as an advert - I can’t report them as I didn’t buy one, but there is a form to report the ad as supplying counterfeit goods which I think is the closest.

On the Elvie, I was in hospital with a lady who had one - she loved it, but also had 3 replacements in the space of a year!

@Mummy2Ward @dinksandbinks @Harrysmum1412 oh my goodness, I’m so pleased (if still not angry) to find people in the same situation with Hale Baby Pump, i thought it was just me! I paid £159 for the double pump, as I thought 30 day money back garentee would save me if needed but have had a complete nightmare, waited 3 weeks for it to arrive (what did arrive was Bradley damaged in the box, and incorrect branding) , I asked for my money back before they arrived and haven’t been able to get hold of anyone, bounce back on emails, the phone number went stright to voice mail, and no answer on their live chat or website messaging service. They have now removed with address and phone number from their website! Have any of you had any luck with getting money back?
If anyone else is reading this DO NOT BUY HALE BABY PUMP, it’s a complete scam!

Kat199 · 27/07/2022 10:54

So I payed through clear pay and when I reported it to them I was given this number +447548624980 to contact but clear pay said they wouldn’t help any further. The person who has this number cancels my calls and has read my WhatsApp messages but doesn’t reply. I’ve not reported them to trading standards and also will be reporting them to my bank as I need the money back!

dinksandbinks · 27/07/2022 11:17

Have you raised a dispute with Clearpay? This will formally notify the company via clearpay, so there can be no illusions that you haven’t tried. Although Clearpay isn’t regulated like a credit card, they do have a duty of care to ensure their services aren’t used for nefarious means - which it sounds like Hale is doing!

I did, they said that as I’ve received the item there isn’t anything they can do to help unfortunately.

MumOfOne2307 · 15/08/2022 07:38

Fraupow is a British brand. I’ve spoken to their customer service team and they have a free midwife chat service every Friday. I’ve been double pumping exclusively with their wearable pump for 16 months now and no issues. Hope that helps
