How much formula should I be giving DS 12months?

Hi

DS just 12 months and still on 3 x 7oz ff per day - one when he wakes up, one mid afternoon and one before bed.
I know I could be giving cows milk now, but due to various colds/teething etc his appetite for solids isn't what it was, so I figured better to get some goodness into him anway possible.

However, am worried that all this milk is now stopping him from upping his food intake. Am I right, is this too much milk?

Any advice would be much appreciated

I don't know a thing about formula feeding but I think health visitors say no milk in the daytime after 12 months so food intake can be upped.

This seems a ridiculous thing to suggest IMO though. If a baby (for that is what a 12 month old is) enjoys milk then let them drink milk.

if he has just been poorly, i would not worry too much about reducing formula intake at the moment. i think all toddlers and small children should have some milk a day, DD is 2.5 and still drinks a fair bit of milk. If i was going to drop one, it would be the mid afternoon one, a bottle when you wake to thirst quench and one as part of bedtime routine and comfort is still lovely at this age.

i personally wouldn;t cut milk out in the day fullstop, especially after illness

sorry, when i said 'no milk in the daytime' i was referring to the mid-afternoon feed.

Thanks for your thoughts. When his cold clears up a bit, maybe I'll try replacing the afternoon feed with a bit of cow's milk to see if he likes it
