Infant feeding

For the first time in nearly ten years, there's no milk in my breasts.

DS4 will be three at the end of the month. He has been gradually having less and less milk for a couple of months now. He pretty much stopped altogether for the last 3-5 weeks or so. Today, out of the blue, he asked for some ... and there was none there.

I very nearly cried because it's the end of an era. I've fed all four of mine until they didn't want it any more and now it's all over.

I don't even think I'll get the benefits people talk about because I stopped so gradually there should be no real difference.

I feel like I'm embracing my middle age.

spidermama, I will be the same as you once I stop bf ds3. He is a real boob boy though and I suspect that he'll carry on for ages. I have been bf, with small gaps for pg since 1998.

Spidermama that's lovely and sad at the same time. Oh yes do get yourself a memento, the pendants VLC linked to are pretty.

Spidermama, wow! 10 years!!!! You are an inspiration. Now, lots of wine, and a trip to Agent Provocateur for some definitely non-nursing bras is in order!
hatrick!!!!!!!!!!!!. Just to let you know, he will pee in your face!

10 years is quite amazing
I'm not suprised you're blubbing!
a memento would be lovely. The pendants that verylittlecarrot linked to are actually very lovely.

(oh the hormonal low though - DD stopped all of a sudden at 10 months - no doubt it was just a nursing strike but I never did manage to get her to feed again, determined little soul that she is. I went completely loopy TBH, hormones all over the shop. DS is just 10 months and I really hope he's not going to do the same)

verylittlecarrot thanks for those links. Aren't they great? I'm trying to find the silver one with the four on it at the moment.

Thanks everyone.

Spidermama

Just found one for you on ebay, international postage not too bad (less than £7)

any good?

Just make sure to check by email with her that it is the one with 4 children, as her description says 3 in one place...but suspect that's a copy and paste error.

I'm going to stop now (although I think I'm going to get one for me with one baby)

There is also a version which just has a mummy (no daddy) with 4 babies - if you wanted to celebrate the very special mum/baby breastfeeding thing, rather than celebrating the whole family generally.

(although having seen the family one first it feels a little like excommunicsating daddy from the necklace a bit...)

I was there July last year when I finally stopped feeding DS#2 in time for him to start school. 11 years of pregnancy and/or bfing. I thought I'd be sad but I wasn't. I'd had enough. Norks are tiny though, really tiny....

wow spidermama well done at keeping going for that long, and thanks for the positive words re tandem feeding because ds2 is 3 1/2 at the mo but doesn't show any sign of wanting to stop, and dc3 is due around his 4th birthday. I loved those pendants, that was a good bit of hunting around from carrot.
