dd2 is 20 weeks. Up until a few days ago she was happily going 3-4 hours between feeds (exclusive b/feeding)and only waking once or twice in the night. (between dream feed around 11pm and 6-7am). Last night she was up every 2-3 hours and absolutely unable to settle without a proper feed (and 2 dirty nappies as well - what a night!)

The last 2 days she has been desperate for milk, feeding both sides, and latching on to my bra strap if she can't wait! She even tries to latch on to dd1 aged 4, and dh. (occasionally they give her a bottle of ebm so I think she hopes they will magically give her a bottle).

At this stage with dd1 I weaned her, but I am absolutely certain dd2 is not ready. I will carry on feeding on demand for a few weeks more but how long do these growth spurts tend to last?

I remember with my dd who is now 15months, that she used to do that too and it only used to last for about 4 days. I suppose they are all different. I too weaned my ds who is now 4.5yrs at 16 weeks. My dd started doing this frantic feeding from about 13 weeks and she was breastfeeding every two hours so i definately didnt wait to wean her at six months like they say now. More like just 4 months!! Sssshhh!!!

Try eating porridge a few time a day, this will give your supply a lil' boost and likely calm things down a bit for you.

Lactogenic foods and herbs
