For those of you following the trauma of my BF thought you might like to know that things are a lot better for me now. It's taken 11 weeks but I don't feel scared now when I put DS to my breast that I am in for horrible pain. My nipples are really on the mend - they sometimes get a bit tender still if he is really going for it or having a long feed but it's nothing compared to the pain I was in before.

Thanks so much to all the support I had here. I am so happy I am still BF'ing and I even fed in tesco cafe the other day! My first public feed I really could not have done it without the on going support from everyone here so thank you

so glad to hear this
I haven't read any of your other thread (I don't think)

Really happy for you, well done for your first public bf

I'm delighted for yoy

fishie · 05/01/2008 13:15

oh brilliant well done stefka. it is so rewarding and easy and fun once you get past the horrid bit.

Stefka · 05/01/2008 13:25

Thanks

Looking back I still can't believe I got through it - especially those first five weeks which were particularly horrific. I am so glad I did though.

Hi Stefka, that is great news. I was following some of your earlier threads. I had endless problems with thrush and latch and eventually things got easier for me too. Your baby is lucky to have you as a mum, as you are so committed to getting it sorted.

moondog · 05/01/2008 15:45

Fantastic Stefka.I've followed all your threads and you have had one hell of a time. Well done for persevering at horray at first public feed!

It's all dead easy now.

VictorianSqualor · 05/01/2008 15:49

Great news stefka, well done.
Is there success with your SIL too?

WAHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEY!

Fantastic to hear of your norks first outing in Tescos... and that things are actually going well. You had such a terrible time, I'm so impressed that you kept going and really happy you're happy to be still BF. And from hereon in, it will probably just continue to get even better.

You might remember I was having a (less) rough time but still quite gruelling. And now - god I can't even remember, 19/20 weeks or summat - apart from the odd intervention from illness (see my nursing strike posts last week!) the feeding is a complete joy and a doddle now.

I'm even thinking of upgrading the old, er, grey, saggy nursing bras for some sexy models now I've got the hang of it again!

Hope it just keeps on upwards for you too

Stefka · 05/01/2008 16:39

Yes my brother's partner is also BF although she does give one bottle of formula in the evening - I am not sure why.

You get sexy nursing bras? Although ones I have are minging.

This has been a huge learning curve that's for sure - a hell of an introduction to the world of BF. In a way I think I will appreciate it more because of the difficult start I had and it has made me very pro BF and cross at the lack of info and support that is out there for people. Thank goodness for this place that's for sure!

That's two successes under your belt then, well done even more!

Monkeybird · 05/01/2008 18:19

hang on Stef, I'm gonna search the archives for the non-minging nursing bra list... I haven't actually got any yet (still on the grey, bobbly, stretched ones ) but I reckon I'm gonna deserve them soon (nearly at the 6 mo mark and hoping to continue long beyond!)

Monkeybird · 05/01/2008 18:27

see eg the french bras on this thread

Bravissimo do some OK ones if you're er, well endowed also!
