Cmpa / sensitivity?

I don't eat a lot of dairy as DH is intolerant, so we don't tend to have it in the house and I prefer the taste of coconut or almond milk in coffee, so if I go to a coffee shop I usually order a dairy free latte anyway. I also prefer dark chocolate over milk, which is also dairy free.

DD is 7 weeks old.

I went for a coffee a couple of weeks ago and the cafe only had cow or soya milk, so I had a cow milk latte and a twix. That evening DD projectile vomitted after a feed and later had a very runny poo.

I didn't really have any further dairy after that, just the odd chocolate or splash of milk in tea when I was at a baby group and we've had no problems.

Last night I had quesadillas for dinner that had cheese in them. After her 3am feed, DD was sick (not as projectile as last time, but brought a lot of milk back up) and then this happened again at her 6am feed. Her nappy has, however been normal.

Should I be worried about cmpa? If so should I stay clear of dairy or should I start eating more of it to observe symptoms?

I'm due a Dr appointment on the 7th, but not sure what to do in the meantime.

My mum told me to carry on eating dairy (intact to start eating it regularly) and she'd grow out of it, but she's usually so good, we get a bit of spit up, but not usually vomit or poo explosions in her nappy and it seems unfair to make her sick.

Update- she's just filled her nappy. It was disgusting! Still mustard yellow in colour as usual but the consistency of snot. Definitely not normal for her. I think she's definitely reacted to the cheese that I ate last night

To diagnose cmpa you need to remove it completely from your diet. Then allow symptoms to settle and reintroduce it. If baby reacts when it's reintroduced that's your diagnosis. It's important to do this because having cmpa will commit you to dairy free weaning which is doable but just requires more effort. Babies usually outgrow it by age 1ish. Although my 10month old just failed the first stage of the dairy ladder.

Thanks for the reply, I don't eat much dairy anyway, so easy to completely eliminate it. How long do you suggest to cut it out for before the reintroduction?

Also, is vomitting and change in bowel movements enough of a symptom for it to be treated as an allergy?

My little ones symptoms were just vomiting. She was pretty mild. My older one has worse symptoms. He had diarrhoea and blood in his stool with really bad reflux. Good luck. Hopefully it won't be too big a change if you dont each much dairy.

Under the doctor's instruction, I had to cut it out for 12 weeks before reintroducing.

Milk is in loads more things than you'd imagine so make sure to check the ingredients list before eating!

Absolutely. The number of times I've found milk in crisps! Once you are used to reading labels it's fine.
