Cmpa bottle refusal

Hi everyone I was just wondering if anyone has been through this and what they did or what happened, my little boy is 5 months old and has cmpa, he completely refused all the special milks even if we try for weeks he won’t let a drop pass his lips, we decided to try goats milk as a last resort even though we knew he’d most likely be allergic to that too which predictably he is but I don’t know why here to go from here. I’ve been to the doctors so many times and they just never know what to do or suggest, I get told if he’s hungry he’ll drink it which really isn’t the case with him, he will just starve himself, we’ve been referred to a dietician I think it is but the waiting list is months and he obviously can’t not drink for months so I am at a loss as to what to do. Sorry for the long post but any help/advice/experience would be appreciated. Thank you

This must be so hard for you. Have you tried Nesquik or vanilla essence in the formulas?

@BunnyRuddington yeah I’ve tried both and he still won’t even drink a mouthful, it’s so stressful

Early weaning fixed both of ours with feeding issues. DD1 had severe reflux, was hospitalised with suspected pyloric stenosis and dehydration, it was that bad. No CMPA, but developed a feeding aversion from the reflux. DD2 started milk refusing at around 6wo, admitted to paeds several times with the threat of tube feeding. Randomly would drink enough goat milk (one particular brand only) to stabilise weight enough to limp to 17 weeks.

Weaning at 17 weeks sorted them both out and, after a couple of weeks on three meals a day, they started gaining weight again. We fortified all foods with milk at the start, and continued to get bottles in where we could.

We had dietitian support - got referred quite quickly with DD2 due to DD1’s history, but I can get that new referrals might take ages atm, and of course the CMPA complicates things. Can you see a GP at your practice with a paeds specialism? Or pay for a private dietitian just to get you through the next few weeks?

Huge sympathy - feeding issues are awful, it’s just something so basic and essential that should be so difficult.
