Hey everyone! My brave little girl had her tounge tie snipped today at 10 weekd old! Forgot to ask, can u give her infacol straight away or should i wait till its healed? Also DH gives her a bottle with exoressed milk in before bed, will she be okay with a bottle or should i stick to boob?

Hi OP - I had exactly the same question when our DS had his TT. We went ahead and gave a bottle - it was absolutely fine. A lot of people said (on here) we should only give boob but for various reasons we needed to give a bottle and it caused no issues. We were also fine to give infacol although we stopped using it soon after the TT.

I was advised to breast feed or give a bottle immediately after the tie was snipped.
I was combination feeding so we gave a mixture following the procedure and DD was fine. Just be careful that you get the teat over the tongue when baby tries to latch to it.
My DD would get over excited for the bottle and hold her tongue up to start with as it felt different and would jab herself in the area where the tie was snipped. She soon learnt not to do it!
We also used Infacol with no problems at all.

One thing I will add, make sure you keep up with the tongue exercises afterwards as it helped DD work out how to use her tongue quickly.
And also if baby gets distressed try to soothe them as soon as possible. DD got very upset one day soon after her tie was snipped and the crying allowed her to elevate her tongue, which she hadnt been able to do before. This then put pressure on the healing area and caused it to bleed quite a bit! I just put some pressure on it for a little while and it stopped very easily.
