Silent reflux - feeding and medicating

Looking for some advice regarding to silent reflux and combinations of meds and milk.

DD is 9 weeks old. Was diagnosed with silent reflux approx 1 month ago. GP started her on prescriptuon formula for suspected CMPA and infant Gaviscon.
She really improved for a few weeks.
Fast forward to a week ago. She started vomiting up her milk a couple of times a day. Was miserable as sin, crying alot and seemed in pain.
This happened around the same time she had her vaccines so assumed it was linked as she had a fever too.
Paediatrician at hospital said vaccine reaction and give it a week.

A few days later the vomiting stopped but her reflux was the worst it had been. Back to OOH GP and paediatrician prescribed Omeprazole.
Advised 10mg daily. Continue Gaviscon for a week then stop it. Then consider switching onto a standard formula milk.

First dose of Omeprazole and she was like a different baby. I was so happy because she was the happiest she has ever been.
But the next day shes been miserable. Vomited again and making those typical axid reflux sounds again.
The Gaviscon has stopped now (different paediatrician said to stop immediately due to constipation) and she is just on the prescription formula and Omeprazole.
She is spitting up the milk during and after feeds though, which she wasnt doing on Gaviscon. I feel like were going round in circles.

What have other mums or dads done?
If your baby was on Omeprazole due to reflux did you use a prescription formula or did you use something off of the shelf designed for reflux?
Did you use Omeprazole and Gaviscon and just work through the constipation issues?
Ideally I need to get her on a milk that is a bit thicker and works similar to Gaviscon, without the horrible side effects.
If anyone can advise that would be fab!

Hi there, I know how horrible this endless circle is and watching your little one in pain! Ours is a bit long winded so hope you follow, we initially were prescribed nutramigen along with gaviscon and omeprazole, if anything this made everything worse, it was then explained that nutramigen still has traces of dairy although very very slight, my son had the full rash etc. We then moved on to Neocate with gaviscon and omeprazole, symptoms seemed better but the constipation began, we were then prescribed a different thickener called Thixo-D from the dietician and this was our game changer, no constipation and the omeprazole had the reflux under control and neocate stopped the dairy rash symptoms.

It seems the thickener is quite unusual as our GP had never come across it and it had to be ordered into the pharmacy. I would also say that it took a good few weeks to see the full effectiveness of the omeprazole so it may be a case of trialing for a few weeks each change rather than mixing too much at once. I hope you get a combination that works soon, it's truly awful!

Thank you for your reply @Dugi3.
The reflux journey is awful isnt it?!

After talking with the paediatrician he feels DD doesnt have a milk allergy. She hasnt had any of the other classic symptoms of it, apparently, so his advice was to switch milks.
Were happy to switch again, just lost as to what one to go with as there are quite a few designed for reflux that are generally a bit thicker.

I dont want to change too much in one go though as we will never know which thing has actually helped.
The Omeprazole did help on the first day but the 2nd day of it I felt we were back to square one.
I had omeprazole before and it worked immediately and continued working so to see DD upset on the second day of it i was sad that it wasnt working for her.
Nobody said it could take weeks to have a decent effect.

Adter stopping the Gaviscon for a few feeds, literally 4 feeds, were back on 1 sachet in her milk.
She had vomiting, coughing and spitting up last night. I think the milk is too thin as she literally inhales it despite our best efforts to slow her down.

Im going to look into thickeners that can be prescribed and take that to the GP as well so we can have another option too.
I hope your son has got over the worst of it now.
Thank you for replying 😊
