I will freely admit I thought I was the world's greatest expert on windy babies, having birthed a child so farty we regretted not naming him Calor.
However, this became less of a problem with age (still farty but not painful) ... until now. Over the last week he's got grumpy through the day and spends much of his nights crying and straining, waking up, thrashing around etc. He's become more difficult to get to sleep again (after finally getting a bit easier) and gets stuck in twitchy light sleep (meaning one of us has to stay with him and pat his bum to keep him asleep [rolls eyes emoticon]).
I really don't buy the whole mother's diet affecting the baby thing - I got myself so stressed about it in the early days I was surviving on next to nothing, and when I said 'enough's enough' I didn't notice any difference in him. However, I have found myself consuming a LOT (OMG we're talking several kilograms here ) of chocolate and some cream and custard and icecream and butter over Christmas. Until now I have naturally been eating less dairy since having him, just because I haven't felt like it I guess. And I gather it's the only thing there's much evidence for as a source of this problem.
Anyway, I've cut the dairy out for now and I'm going to have a few chocolate-free days, we've started Infacol again and increased the daily tummy massage sessions. Bearing in mind we're meant to be travelling 300 miles with the poor wee mite tomorrow (usually taking us around 7 hours with stops!) and we just can't possibly go if he's this miserable, is there anything else we can try?
