Hellooo I am 20 weeks pregnant and feel totally clueless!! I plan on breastfeeding and hope to pump occasionally for hubby to be able to help. Did you buy those things before baby was born? Or did you wait? Also what happens if can’t do I need bottles just incase? And what about the steriliser sets? Just been looking online and feel totally clueless!

Buy microwave sterilising bags, they take up no space, cheap, qwick and easy to use.
Id buy a hand pump, id reccomend the medela hand pump!
Id also reccomend to get a hacka and watch lots of videos on how to use it, you can use it to collect the let down from the breast the baby is not feeding from.
Buy one or two bottles diffrent brands from your local superstore, that way once baby is here and decides what bottle he/she likes you can easily go and buy more. I tried so many diffrent bottles with my little boy and we ended up using NUK bottles, i ended up with loads of tommie tippie bottles sat in the cubord unused, the same goes for dummies if you plan to use them!
Buy a pack of milk bags- medela brand i found the best, not one has leaked on me yet!
Be carefull of introducing a bottle to soon, this can cause a bottle prefrence and the baby will no longer want to brestfeed as he/she will find the bottle easier, allways use the smallest teat on the bottle

Speak to your midwife about coloustrum harvesting- reasearch into it too!

I would wait until LO arrives and see how things work out. You don’t usually start introducing a bottle until around 6 weeks so you’ve got plenty of time.

If your go along to your local BFing Support Groups before LO arrives, you might find that someone has a decent pump that they’re willing to sell or pass on or that there is a scheme for money off new pumps.

Wait until baby gets here to buy anything other than the little packs of pre made formula. You can have everything else in a basket on Amazon so it's there if you need it.

Better to get in touch with your local breastfeeding support and have their numbers / session times ready.

Your baby week by week is a great book for the early days as well.

A Haakaa style is good for engorgement and is cheap.

Breastfeeding takes some practice and support. Expressing so dad can 'help' can be a bit of a hassle. You have to express the feed and the feed you missed. He's better able to support by having bonding cuddles while you shower / sleep, keeping you fed and watered, looking after the house, doing nappies etc.
