How to make sure he gets enough now he’s dropped some feeds?

Hi everyone, our baby is 11 weeks old and formula fed. He used to have 8 feeds a day, then dropped to 7 and fed around every 3 hours in the day and twice overnight.

He’s now going to bed at 7.30 after his last feed and only waking up once for a feed at about 3am. We’ve upped his feeds to 180mls from 150mls to try to make sure he gets enough, and we tried doing a dream feed for a week to make sure he got 6 feeds in a day but it didn’t suit him, it disturbed his sleep all night as we were waking him at 11pm when he was having a really good sleep.

So now he’s having a feed around 6.30-7, going to bed at 7.30, another feed in the early hours, and then 4-5 feeds in the day. To make sure he gets enough sleep at night and during the day with naps etc I’m not sure how to fit in enough feeds to make sure he gets enough?

He’s 15 pounds and is now only having about 900 mls a day, he doesn’t seem to want to be fed at closer intervals or have bigger bottles.

Is this ok? I’m worried he won’t get enough to keep growing, surely he should be consuming over 1000mls now? I don’t want to force feed him!

I hope the above makes sense… it’s 4am ☺️😬

I would say just leave leave him that sounds fine for just been 11 weeks old all babies are different he is obviously getting enough and is filling him up , he will let you know when he is needing more I upto just maybe put maybe an extra oz in my wee ones bottle that way if she wants more then its there for her but if he's just waking up once during the night a would just leave him with what yous are giving him some babies take less and some take more not all babies are the same xx

He's getting enough, go with baby. If he's hungry he will wake.

Our boy is now 13w and has 8floz 4-5 times a day depending on him, and he sleeps from 8pm to 7am.

@Amichelle84 that sleep is great by the way! I hope it’s not long before our boy sleeps through 🤞

This will not change, we will always worry Smile

I know- were so lucky with his sleep, not all nights are like that and our 17 month old is always on hand to keep us up at night...

Another question - when to feed in the night and when to leave them?

We put him to bed at 7.30 and at 1.30am he cried out a few times so we got up but when we went over he was asleep again, so we left it. Next time he was stirring it was 5am and he didn’t cry this time but didn’t stop fidgeting, so even though when we went over he fell asleep again we still got him up for a feed.

Just wondering if we’re doing the right thing? I’m unsure whether we should be feeding every time he stirs or just ignoring it as it’s a sleep cycle thing? He stirs but doesn’t open his eyes so he’s not fully awake.

Me personally my wee one is 7 months and she goes to bed and sometimes let's out a cry about 5ish but just give her a dummy then she stirs again but I just leave her until she starts blabbing away then aknow she's ready to get up which is usually about 8 I have been doing this since she was 2 and a half months old x
