A while back I posted a question about whether certain foods I eat could make my DD more colicky. Most people said they don't avoid any foods. However, after weeks of screaming (DD now 12 weeks)I am fairly certain that various foods do make it noticeably worse. For instance, i 'risked' beans on toast on Monday and have had 48 hours of screaming since.

What I'm wondering is whether, if i continue bfeeding long term, i will have to continue to avoid these foods, or whether she will be able to cope better with them as her digestive system matures? I am missing my green veg and pulses, and the lack of them is causing me digestive issues of my own!

I avoided dairy for a while for the same reasons though never completely cut it out. After a bit I started eatng it more again with no ill effects. I thin about 3-4 months their digestive systems start to cope better. will vary obviously but eventually you'll be able to go bac to normal

thanks Sputnik, have been busy putting dcs to bed. Did you find cutting out/ reducing dairy helped with the colic? I haven't tried that and would be really loath to (I love dairy products) but if the screaming persists beyond the 3 month mark I may be driven to more desperate measures!

I found it made a difference - we didn't have colic just bothersome wind really. If it's bad then you should give t a try- won't be for long anyway.

I avoided bananas and beens till DD was four months because she got really upset when I'd had them. Stuck to curries and chilli instead .

She now eats bananas and beans herself so clearly her gut is better - but it would make total sense actually if this were the case as the gut doesn't fully close till about four months (hence that's when a lot of people wean - wrongly IMHO but that's another argument).
