Have read before about not getting plastic backed ones. not sure why though? Anyway which ones did you use and where did you get them from?

Thank you!!

plastic backed ones are sweaty

onepieceoflollipop · 18/12/2007 12:41

I personally prefer washable ones - although they can move about a bit in your bra and show an outline depending on what you are wearing. If I am at home or somewhere I can adjust them when I need to that is what I use normally. They are really easy to wash and tumble dry, also more comfy.

If they need to stay in place or I need bit more discretion I would go for Tommee Tippee ones. (disposable). I think they are similar to the Lansinoh ones. They are supposed to be "breathable" but I find they can get a bit "sweaty" compared to the washables. But they do provide a bit more coverage and stay in place more than the washables. They have a sticky backing. Avoid the cheaper ones imo.

Flibbertinseljinglebells · 18/12/2007 12:45

I just folded mens cotton hankies up and washed them in with nappies. You can pick up the hankies really cheap and because they are washable can change them as often as you like.
The ones I used are now great for runny noses and neater than muslins for dribbles when out and about so we are getting years of use from them!

WalkinginaWonkaWonderland · 18/12/2007 12:49

At risk of coming across all "Earth Mother" on you, I ploughed through every type of dispoable breast pad before discovering that the reusable cotton fleece ones are loads better in every way. I find that four sets are plenty, they wash & dry easily and would recommend them every time.

ConnorTraceptive · 18/12/2007 12:53

Where can you buy reusable ones? I've never seen them in the shops.

Washables much better. Mine are Avent I think. Nips much happier. eBay.

dingdongmerrilyonFLIER · 18/12/2007 12:57

i personally didn't like the washable ones, but found these ones to be the best (lasinoh)

I get mine from a local organic grocery and think they're about £1.60-ish a pair. Am happy to post you some if you'd like?

ChopsterRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 18/12/2007 12:58

I liked lasinoh too.

I used Lilypadz thought they were great, prevent all leaks and could sleep in just a tshirt (no bra).
Much better than washables even and only need a inse under the tap, with a bit of handsoap.

dosydot · 18/12/2007 13:02

here

Try your local washable nappy agent for free p&p on washable breastpads and other bits and bobs.

RudolphtheBluenosesaintdeer · 18/12/2007 13:08

Another vote for lasinoh here ...

MaeWestYeMerryGentlemen · 18/12/2007 13:12

I liked the washable Lansinoh ones (think my MIL bought them for me ) but in the beginning think I went through a huge box of Mothercare(?) disposable ones. Was a bit like wearing teabags on the nipples... but milkier.

Also I found I stopped leaking (except at night) at around 6 weeks and so didn't need to wear them. I know some people need them for much longer...

specialmagiclady · 18/12/2007 13:20

I suppose it depends on the volume and speed of leakage! With DS1 I found that I spurted through washable pads in minutes. Lansinoh were the only ones for me. Didn't have a problem with sweaty tits, plus they are conveniently boob-shaped so don't show as much.

I get away with none (!) with DS2 but do have VERY occasional leakage, with which a washable would be well able to cope.

dosydot · 18/12/2007 13:29

I Spurted / Leaked night and day and osaked through pads several times a day the whole time i was feeding ( 8 months)
Thats why I LOVED the lilypadz.
Plus I think thy work out very economical 1 pair lasted me whole 8 months.

Miaou · 18/12/2007 13:44

I was given some lilypadz but never felt comfortable with them. I was always worried they would pop out of my bra whilst feeding in public! I have the Avent ones which are nice and boots own ones, which are ok but a bit stiff. My main problem though is a distinct lack of norkage which means I have no "weight" to hold the damn things in and they end up creeping out over the top of my neckline if I don't do a Les Dawson and rearrange myself at regular intervals

onepieceoflollipop · 18/12/2007 13:49

lol at Miaou. Even with a little more norkage mine wander about a bit and mean I have to watch who I am with if I wear flimsy (white) t-shirts! I ccan b/f discreetly but cannot re-arrange my breast pads at all discreetly!

imdreamingofawhiteKITTYmas · 18/12/2007 14:00

I didn't get on with lilypadz - they leaked and I found if I used them for a few days I got a rash on my nipples.

pendulum · 18/12/2007 14:03

lilypadz

they are fab and don't make your norks look a funny shape in clothes

i caught DD1 (3) putting them on her nipples yesterday- she said, 'I'm playing with your boobie pressers mummy'!

Has anyone found any washables that don't show through white tops?

WalkinginaWonkaWonderland · 18/12/2007 14:21

CT - have just e-mailed

BroccoliSpears · 18/12/2007 14:28

I didn't get on with washables at all, despite persevering. In the end, the best for me was cheepo supermarket disposables. Prefered them to the more pricey, shaped, sticky ones. They did the job and didn't cost much. Muchos guilt about the disposable aspect though.
