When did you stop holding baby upright after feeds?

Hello everyone!

My baby is 15 weeks old and has silent reflux and is on lansoprazole since he was about 10 weeks. We keep him upright for a good 30 mins after feeds but it's becoming more challenging to do this as he is getting bigger and stronger and wiggles all over the place! Just wondering when can we stop having to hold him upright after feeds if anyone else has experience with this? Thank you!

@idontlikealdi oh gosh really? 🥴🥴 wow, we have a long road ahead of us then! Can I ask what you did? I struggle to hold my son for so long!

My daughter had reflux and it's so hard! At 7 months I gave up. I could have sat her upright for 2 hours and she would still be sick. It made no difference unfortunately.

@imnotthatlucky it's so rubbish isn't it! My friend comes over sometimes, feeds her boy then pops him on the floor after a quick burp and he's fine 🙄 then I'm there holding DS like a ticking time bomb!

I also gave up around 7 months because no matter how long I held her upright, she was still sick! She stopped being sick around 11 months though.

But up until that point I used to stick her in a sling and walked around with her if she was fighting me.

Probably around 7 months too, but he didn't stop being sick. They were smaller sicks though, he was only projectile vomiting if he had a cold by then.

He carried on being sick after milk until he started walking at 14 months.

@pag2020 it really peaked too as she was learning to crawl (again, 7 months) because of the pressure on her belly. She was standing up all the time at 9 months and by then it almost completely vanished. Started walking at 11 months by which point it was gone.

It is SO hard when you're in the midst of reflux Thanks

With DD1 she stopped allowing me to very early - about five months. I used to put her in a Baby Bjorn bouncer on the most upright setting instead. Upright or not, she still brought back liquids until about 13 months. One of the last occasions was when chalet staff while away in Val D’Isere proudly made her a little bowl of tomato soup. I did warn them….
