EBF newborn & vomiting help

Just looking to see if anyone else has experienced this and any tips?

DD is just over two weeks and EBF (EBF her sister til nearly two and luckily she has taken to it just as well). We were just starting to get the occasional projectile vomit (we get the usual posset and a bit more but this is much more forceful and in greater volume) when we saw HV and last midwife appt but both said try infacol and see how you go. But I'm not sure it's wind as such, as although she is very windy she does seem to bring it up, or down, easily.

Reading the LLL site I'm wondering if it's more oversupply/let down issue as the vomiting is much worse during the night and first morning feed. I've tried the feeding positions suggested and block feeding and they haven't yet helped, block feeding I'm worried about mastitis at this early stage as well. So I guess my next step is to try to catch/express the initial flow to take the edge off? I've started infacol today too just to see.

DD is generally a placid, cheerful baby, very grungy and with some back arching coming in now but at the moment she saves her crying for having her nappy done. I was going to hang on til the 6 week appointments but I feel so sorry for her when she's sick that I will get in touch before then. But you can't beat the collective wisdom of Mumsnet for things to try and/or ask about, can you?

Do want to keep BF if possible but not adverse to mixed feeding if that might help in some way. Her big sister wasn't sicky at all so I've no trucks up my sleeve for this yet!

Grunty not grungy 😂

Possibly reflux. Back arching and seeming in pain when lying down ie during nappy changes.
I’d seek medical advice.

I was thinking that 😬 but hoping not!

I guess I'll have to give the infacol a day or two to say I've tried it. I've dug out the baby chair (I'd say bouncer but it's about as bouncy as I feel today!) and she is definitely more settled in that and the sling than lying flat. Obviously won't leave her in long as it's not really for sleeping in but will give her a bit of respite at least I guess.

I posted here a couple of weeks ago with a very similar query and my issue was oversupply/overactive letdown. What helped for us was to use a Hakkaa to collect the initial letdown and then let baby feed once the initial flood had stopped. He has coped much better with that, only lasted a week or so and now either my supply is better regulated or he can deal with the flow better (or both?) so no longer having to do that. Would definitely give that a try.

Also I found block feeding to be worse than swapping sides because my other side just seemed to get more engorged! Go with your gut there and don't worry about sticking with it if you don't think it's working. On the other hand, I do find the laid back feeding quite effective.

Apparently i was like this as a baby, i would always bring up the first feed, my mum would just prepare for that, and do a second feed that I would keep down.

Tbh as an adult im still very likely to vomit if feeling squeamish/ill so maybe some people are just more prone to it?

Is baby uncomfortable during feeding or is it just the vomiting thats the issue?

My poor, cheerful, good sleeping baby is still bringing up lots of milk after every feed, but she doesn't seem to care fortunately. I've tried to tweak my BF and we've been in infacol a week now.

Yesterday we had two horrible runny bright yellow poos and the vomiting hasn't changed with infacol so I've stopped that. I had lots of cheese yesterday so I'm slightly worried it might be CMPA but no mucous or stringy poo so hopefully not.

It'll be a call to HV and GP tomorrow, I'm just grateful she's still mostly cheerful as it can't be pleasant for her
