Bottle feed

Hi all, I have question about bottle feeding. Using the perfect prep machine when at home. Sometimes I make bottle up and baby doesn’t want it just yet, once it’s made up how long is it good for, am I ok to put lid back on or once it is off is it no longer sterile? I believe bottle ok for 1 hour once in use or is it 2 hrs at room temp?

Thank you

Hey the NHS says 2 hours at room temp and 1 hour if used. I dont have a perfect prep machine but if its cool enough you should be able to put in the fridge - the NHS say you can store for 24 hours max but of course the best advice now is to always make fresh! Those machines just sound like a dream - will defo get one if I have another LO x

The bottle won't be sterile at all OP. Formula isn't sterile, this is why you have to add the hot water to kill any harmful bacteria.

Part of the controversy over the perfect preps are that it doesn't seem to do this although the manufacturing company are really guarded about the information regarding if the process eliminates risk to the baby.

NHS does indeed say it's 2 hours from making a bottle but I would be super strict about this if it was my baby and I'd made the bottle using a perfect prep.

How old is baby? Personally I would be happy to go by that NHS guidance once baby is 3 months, but would probably chuck and start again if younger than that.
