HV says to stop using the jelonet - I am not so sure

My HV was just round and she said I should stop using the jelonet and just let nature take its course now. My nipples are healing bit by bit. She's been a bit funny about the jelnet - she did get me one box on prescription but when I asked for a repeat she told me to use smaller pieces. I like to put more than one on though otherwise it dries out. I just started to buy the stuff anyway and when I had my six week check up yesterday I managed to get a couple more boxes from the Dr on prescription.

I am thinking that I will just keep using it but thought I would post to get the thoughts of the wise mumsnetters!

if they're still not healed S, I'd say keep using it. but yeah maybe eke it out a bit by using smallest squares necessary?

Are you using anything else? Lansinoh and jelonet in combinations? Do you let your nipples air frequently?

ShowofHands - airing damaged nipples not especially good practice now.

Stefka - if you think jelnet is helping, then carry on! I have no idea why the HV is critical of it....why not ask her??

google moist wound healing and breastfeeding, i think she is talking from a position of ignorance. scab coming off/crack reopening is the most painful part and anythign which can avoid that is to be pursued. must say that i found jelonet really sticky and unpleasant, i used some non-adherent gel pads.

Did not know that tiktok, seems to be the only thing that helps my nipples, having nothing on them at all, otherwise the cracks just get worse. Same with eczema I have on my arms, if I keep it uncovered it heals all on its own. More proof that I'm abnormal I suppose.

I think the jelonet is expensive and they she wasn't keen for me to have it. I don't mind buying it though if it is helping. I find it more painful to let them dry out as when he goes back on he opens up the wound again. I was thinking if it aint broke don't fix it. They are slowly getting better using the lasinoh and jelonet combination.
