Expressing - how long will milk last and how do I look after it?

Am thinking of starting to express as I want to be able to let DH give DS bottle in eves. How much does a baby normally take in a feed? How do I store the expressed milk? What can I freeze it in and then how does DH give it to bub? How long will it last in the fridge? How long will a bottle last if we defrost too much and DS doesn't want to drink the whole bottle?

Depends on how old your baby is as to how much he will have. Freeze in special BFing freezer bags and when defrosted pop in a sterile bottle to feed. There is lots of conflicting advice on how long milk lasts in fridge. Some say 24 hours, some say 48 and others say up to 8 days.

Start off putting small amount in bottle then increase if DS needs more. That way less waste as you cannot re-heat the bottle.

all your questions answered here!

DD (3.5m) takes 4-5oz.
I express throughout the day and store it in the fridge till I've got 5oz, then freeze it in the bags you get from Boots.
DH stands the bag in hot water to thaw and warm it, then decants into bottle for dd.
