Callum's poo has gone from small green amounts in every nappy, to huge explosive yellow poo once a day... I can't remember what nappies are supposed to be like..

I vaguely remember this being normal (from DS1 and 2, DS3 still doing copious green poo every nappy at the mo!), in fact I think sometimes it was only a couple of times a week but then we did have to hose the walls down afterwards .

StarofBethleCam · 02/12/2007 14:15

I remember the "mustard" nappies

sparklygothkat · 02/12/2007 14:17

not mustard, huge amount of yellow watery poo... he is breastfeeding

Yes it's normal, my dd did this, usually saving it for when we were out and about, requiring complete changes of clothes, and sometimes making me consider carrying around spare clothes for myself too.

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 02/12/2007 14:19

I think it is a very good sign, sparkly!!!!

splishsplosh · 02/12/2007 14:20

Don't know that it was watery exactly - wow, it's amazing how quickly you forget.
I definitely remember sitting at the library at baby bounce and rhyme, so maybe she was 3/4 months, and the poo even managed somehow to break out of her clothes and land in a sizeable puddle on my skirt - so guess probably fairly runny consistency

sparklygothkat · 02/12/2007 14:20

is it a sign that he is getting enough milk now??

belgo · 02/12/2007 14:20

my dds both had very watery yellow poo. i was told that as long as it had little 'bits' in it, that's fine.

3Ddonut · 02/12/2007 14:21

Totally normal, pampers first stage are great for yellow, runny poo!

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 02/12/2007 14:21

I would hazard a guess that, yses, things are sorting themselves out

Well done Callum!!

sparklygothkat · 02/12/2007 14:22

he is in reuseables.. its amazing that you forget just how things are supposed to be..

oh yes explosive sounds normal

well done for persevering with the bfing in difficult circumstances SGK

sparklygothkat · 02/12/2007 14:28

he is more alert now and even started smiling this week

belgo · 02/12/2007 14:28

that's lovely

pooka · 02/12/2007 14:33

Oh boy do I remember the explosive yellow poos.

Can I admit to being rather fond of the smell? And they were so easy to change because so liquid. Unlike the horrible post-weaning adultesque poos of today.

I also remember literally hosing my dd down. Also a friend at the post natal group having to carry her dd awkwardly over to the changing area with her dd's nappy dripping all over the carpet. Sorry - TMI

Happy days......

belgo · 02/12/2007 14:37

pooka - yes, strangely, your own baby's bfing poo isn't disgusting is it.

sparklygothkat · 02/12/2007 14:40

lol, my poor BIL walked out the room the other day, he said he needed a gas mask.. pmsl. So this is completely normal and he is getting enough milk and he are doing great? Its been a long 10 weeks but we might have turned the corner now..

OP posts:
pooka · 02/12/2007 14:44

Oh yes - I did mean only the b/fed nappies of my babies.
All others are bogging.

sparklygothkat · 02/12/2007 14:48

i might be able to stop topping up soon..

TheOldestCat · 02/12/2007 14:48

Another survivor of explosive, yellow watery poos here! My HV said it was quite normal for BF babies.

And agree with pooka about the smell not being offensive (to me, anyway).

Glad to hear Callum is doing well.

chipmonkey · 02/12/2007 14:57

I hope it's normal, otherwise I have 3 abnormal boys!

sparklygothkat · 02/12/2007 16:30

lol CM. I feel like a first time mum all over again...

I think your brain blots out all that poo stuff to make sure you're not put off going again!
