Still producing milk after stopping breastfeeding 4 months ago

Hello,

Does anyone know if this is normal or not. I stopped breastfeeding my son at 20 months. He is 2 now and although my boobs don't feel full or leak or anything, I just gave one a little squeeze out of curiosity 🤦‍♀️🙊 and loads of milk came out.

I really thought it would if dried up by now.

I think so? I could squeeze some out for months after I stopped, and I didn't feed for long. All gone now, two years later.

Mine still produced milk for a year after, I'm convinced if I'd of stuck a pump on I'd get a couple of ounces!

I'm pregnant again now and they've been leaky throughout.

I think there's medication you can get to stop it if it's becoming an issue

I fed for about the same time as you and produced small amounts of milk for at least a year afterwards!

TerribleCustomerCervix · 30/07/2021 20:03

I stopped 2 years ago and can still squeeze out a few drops!

Omg this is insane! Thanks everyone. It's not an issue for me at all, it just took me by surprise. Does this mean I could start it up again if I wanted too?

I've still got a few drops after finishing over 2 years ago too!

Mine only stopped after getting pregnant again, a full 18 months after I'd finished breastfeeding!

I can still get a tiny bit if I really squeeze and I stopped 6 years ago!

I read somewhere that once you’ve done it, it’s relatively easy to induce lactation again, even after a long time - apparently it’s an evolutionary thing so that in cavewoman days, if a mother died in childbirth the grandmother could potentially feed the baby.
