Best nipple shield to entice baby back to breast after bottle feeding has taken over?
He's averse to the breast now, heartbreaking.

Medela are soft and very thin. Worth ordering different sizes to get the best fit.

Thank you :-) Would you say that's the best one to go for? Any ones to avoid for this purpose? I guess them being really hard wouldn't be good - he uses Dr Browns bottles.

I've just commented on your thread about supply.

Are you getting any RL support?

Hi. Thanks, sadly not. Health Visitor just said more skin to skin etc. Nothing seems to work.

hello hello

PurpleTygrrr · 07/07/2021 11:04

I use the MAM ones and my baby goes between boob and bottle well. Good luck!

ThePontiacBandit · 07/07/2021 11:07

I found the Medala ones best. Tried Boots ones but they kept collapsing! I hope you can get him feeding again.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 07/07/2021 11:09

I used Avent, it's all a friend could find on short notice, bless him.
it worked fine

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 07/07/2021 11:10

albeit I used it for protection because of horrendous mastitis

Jellyfishnchips · 07/07/2021 11:10

I would also recommend the Medela shields, v soft and helped me wean baby off bottles and back onto breast. Not sure if this will help but I wasn’t sure which size I needed and ordered both size Medium and a Large, the large are huge! Medium seem a more sensible size

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 07/07/2021 11:13

if you haven't tried it yet you could squeeze out just a few drops of milk and quickly put him to the breast. it might help him get what's up

tbtf · 07/07/2021 11:14

Medela for me too. I found the boots ones to be a weird shape.

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 07/07/2021 11:14

as in leave the milk droplets on the nipple so he gets an immediate taste.
I hope that makes sense

BunnyRuddington · 07/07/2021 16:46

Sorry only just seen your update.

It does sound as if you could do with some RL support.

Have a look to see if there's a La Leche League Leader near to you or call their helpline.

The Helpline is open until 11pm but the warmer you call, the more chance you've got of speaking to a trained BFC today.

My lactation consultant recommended MAM as they are very thin and soft, skin like feel, cut outs for nose and chin to maximise skin contact and dimples too. We get on well with them. Easy to sterilise too.

Try putting a very small hole teat on the bottle to make it harder work. My 8 month old has an expressed bottle about once a week and he’s still on a size 0 teat!

babyblues21 · 10/07/2021 18:56

I use NUK shields, baby switches between breast and bottle perfectly

EmmaInParis · 12/07/2021 08:02

I’ve tried both Medela and Mam and found Mam ones way easier for my baby to latch to x

Same here, tried both and the MAM ones work so much better.. I wonder if it's because they're more similar to the bottle teat and the medela ones are thinner and more rounded like a nipple. I would try both OP and see which ones work best for you.
