Can we still be prescribed this in the U.K.?
Can anyone advise an alternative/or experiences with it?
Are there any other prescription medications to increase supply?

No idea on this one sorry but if you give one of the BFing Helplines, they should be able to tell you and support you if you have low supply.

Wolfiefan · 07/07/2021 08:54

I tried it years ago. It didn’t help. Also tried fennel tea and pumping to increase supply as well as skin to skin etc.

FTEngineerM · 07/07/2021 08:56

Not tried this but I did increase my supply in other ways, what have you tried so far?

R3ALLY · 07/07/2021 13:28

You should be able to get it OTC as Motillum. What else have you tried? I found moringa great, sold as Go Lacta (I had severe issues so porridge etc no use)

Catchmesomezzzzzzz · 10/07/2021 10:16

It's no longer available OTC, even as Motilium. My GP wasnt comfortable prescribing it so I had to get a private prescription from another doctor. It did increase my supply but sadly my LO's stomach didn't agree with it so I just had to accept combination feeding in the end.

I managed to get a prescription from my GP! Will report back on whether it works! :-)

What worked for you? I've really struggled, I got a domperidone script and really hoping it works.

I tried it, I don't think it made a difference, the damage was already done by the bad, bad advice from the hv. It also corresponded with the worst episode of mental health I have ever had in my life.
What did make a difference was simply consuming enough calories, I was loosing weight very fast in the early days after giving birth and actually, I needed to eat more.

Snappyteabread · 11/07/2021 21:46

Don't be disappointed if it doesn't work. I got it (about 10 years ago) and sadly it didn't work. I tried everything and nothing increased my supply.

parsnipsnotsprouts · 11/07/2021 21:47

I begged my gp for this years ago with my first. It just gave me diarrhoea tbh but I found out I had insufficient glandular tissue so it was never going to work out for me. Hope it works for you but please don’t put yourself through hell over breastfeeding. It really isn’t the end of the world. Any little bits of breast milk you can give are beneficial

addler · 14/07/2021 21:45

Domperidone will only increase supply if you have low prolactin levels. If your supply issue is due to another hormone or vitamin problem, a congenital problem like IGT or a problem with milk transfer it won't have an effect.

MrsWooster · 14/07/2021 21:48

It seemed to help me, so good luck! I also tried fenugreek, which might be worth a try alongside? (It will make you smell of curried maple syrup!)

TheWashingMachine · 14/07/2021 22:09

I was going to suggest fenugreek seeds, absolutely amazing or you can buy capsules

How are you getting in with the Donperidone?
XKLN · 19/08/2021 00:41
