Hi my baby is currently 4 days old and is taking between 20 and 50ml per feed. We have to wake him to get him to eat as he is a little jaundice. Which we do roughly every 3 hours. We need to strip him at times to get him to take his milk.I'm concerned that he is going to end up dehydrated esp as it is getting hotterl. Nappies have been wet/dirty. The nappies aren't heavy but the indicator shows me they are wet. I'm a ftm as you can probably tell!does this sound normal?x

I remember the stress of this when DS was a newborn, but sounds like you're doing great OP. I don't think it's hugely unusual to have to try and keep them awake whilst feeding while they're really young, I remember being told to blow in his face or gently tickle his feet if he was dozing off. The fact he has wet nappies is great, and unless the fonatenelle is depressed I'm sure he is getting enough fluids. Did the midwives give any indication of the kind of amount they would expect him to have? As long as he's not draining bottles and is offered more if he does, sounds fine.

I breastfed but at that age I remember reading a babies stomach can only hold 30ml
