A friend was bfing her 8wk old in the sains cafe the other day and some old misery came and told her it "wasn't the time or the place"..etc. My friend was v upset but her dh jumped to her defence and they complained to the cafe manager.

manager sopke to the crone in question who saw the woman and told her to leave bfing mother alone or she would be asked to leave. And if there were any future complaints about that woman she would find herslf banned.

Well done sains for taking the RIGHT stance here.

Blimey - should be worthy of a news report, no - anyone know any journalists?

LadySnotsalot · 22/11/2007 16:29

blardy old ladys are the worst for bf complaints imo!

meemar · 22/11/2007 16:30

Well done sainsburys.

As for "wasn't the time or the place"..... Some people just need to be politely told to p*ss off

Slouchy · 22/11/2007 16:31

We thought about putting it in local NCT mag just to give sains the good publicity they deserve. Girl in qu doesn't really want to got to paper though.

Oh, and wasn't that old either - mid to late 40s.

Good to read this!

I put in a suggestion at my local branch about the crappy cambered walkway between doors and M&T parking, which is rough as heck and always wakes up baby, if said baby is not rolling into carpark due to said camber already.

Letter back saying sod off.

Wow, great to hear a manager with a great attitude.

If your friend wants to make that managers day, she might consider writing a letter/email or ringing head office and tell them how great that manager is

kerala · 22/11/2007 20:01

I was told at a friend's christening by her DH's very grand granny "you'll be wanting a private room to do that in I take it".

tisha0407 · 22/11/2007 20:12

I work for Sainsburys and we do have a reward system for good managers/colleagues if they get nominated by a member of the public for good customer service so it is worth writing to Head Office so that colleague gets a bit of recognition (we usually only get complaints so it is really nice to get a praising letter!!)

Slouchy · 22/11/2007 20:27

Will pass that info on, tisha.

Kerala, see the other thread "respect to Slouchy's mate..." for responses!

stleger · 22/11/2007 20:50

We have a horrid old bag who drones on like that in our local paper. I complain to the editor, but he is scared of her! What a rag, and well done Sainsburys.

mumtoone · 22/11/2007 20:53

I found the staff in my local Sainsburys great when I was shopping with my dd. She was quite collicky until she was 3 months old and screamed on two occasions when I went to the supermarket. I had two members of staff kindly offer help do my shopping for me so I could look after dd. They do seem to be generally supportive of people with babies.

WriggleJiggle · 02/12/2007 15:08

At Sainsburys they once opened up a new till just for me because dd was screaming so much .
