Can someone explain the difference between using Gaviscon vs Reflux milk?

I have site searched but can’t quite find what I’m looking for. HV has suggested trying out anti reflux milk for my FF baby due to common reflux symptoms. But we are already using infant gaviscon. Isn’t this achieving the same thing?? I’m confused Confused

Is your baby still being sick on gaviscon? My DD has been on gaviscon since 5 weeks old (just turned 1) and it never stopped the sick but helped with pain symptoms. I think people have more luck with anti-reflux milk stopping the sick than gaviscon.

Hi! From what I’m aware they practically do the same thing. Infant gaviscon is a thickner and anti reflux milks has a thickening agent in it too (carob bean or starch) - they shouldn’t be used together as they’re both thickening the milk.

Thanks both - @Vicky1989x not so much throwing up in terms of volume but still quite frequent and smells acidic.

@FudgeFlies so basically there isn’t much point changing to AR milk instead of gaviscon in normal milk is what I am thinking 🤔

Yep unless you think the AR milk will be better for her instead of the gaviscon, could try switching? My LG is still quite sicky (not as much as before but still everyday), gaviscon and carobel made her constipated and gave her tummy ache so we just persevered with the sickness. She is on omeprazole though (to help the acid pain).
